Single You Out: Memphis Reigns – Lightspeed (ft. Hypoetical)

One of my most popular posts in the decade and a half that I have been doing this blog is the interview I did with Memphis Reigns. He had such a cult following that people constantly check for him. It makes me quite proud to have been able to continue to share and showcase his talent because he is STILL making great hip hop music!

He has a recent release on Bandcamp called, The Arcade Avengers, where he uses what seems to be like old Atari sounds and uses it as the crux for this project. It’s really dope. And even though I wish the vocals were turned up a little bit on this track…Lightspeed, featuring Hypoetical is my favorite!

Single You Out: Cousin Feo x Lord Juco – Los Traficantes b/w Bodies In The Hudson (prod. by Big Ghost LTD)

Cousin Feo and Lord Juco get it moving again over some production from highly acclaimed beatsmith, Big Ghost LTD. And this single is billed as advertised, same dope results that you get whenever these emcees link up, with the exception that you have the genius of Big Ghost behind the boards. When you purchase this joint you get the original tracks and a remix for each. All of them equally dope. Check this out!

Single You Out: Dueling Experts – Revolve Around Sciences

Dueling Experts (Verbal Kent and Recognize Ali) are back for another round of dopeness with the impending release of their sophomore project, DE2: Sand The Floor. These artists sound really good together with commanding voices and flows. Very complimentary skill sets. And this beat by Lord Beatjitzu is incredibly strong and anchors the duo well.

Make sure you check the album when it drops on December 11th.

Single You Out: Chuck N Lock – Tomorrow Never Dies

The Famous Last Words project from Chuck N Lock has been out for about a month now, but this is my first time giving it a listen and I knew it was going to be good…but this is pretty damn incredible. At $30 a scoop I was a little incredulous, but thought I def could support the art. Glad I did. The music and sound in general is unique while still sounding familiar if that makes sense. The dexterity with words is unparalleled with their contemporaries.

And while Tomorrow Never Dies isn’t exactly my favorite track from the project, it’s still really damn good and illustrates that distinguishing sound. Check the project!

Single You Out: King David – The Go Around (ft. Eto)

So I haven’t heard too many people talking about this joint, but in my mind it’s a must listen to. Eto’s name has been ringing for years, but this production from King David needs to get some due. This is a great track, with Eto’s raspy, yet intricate flows, appearing on this guitar laced heat.

This track can or will be found on King David’s project, Diamond in My Crown, which I can’t find too much about right now, but will put out my feelers.

Single You Out: Eastern Sunz – Welfare (ft. Rahim Thornhill)

Another dope album that I need to put you on to is this project from Portland’s Eastern Sunz, Fuel For A Fool’s Errand. It’s that intelligent and soulful hip hop, that not only incorporates boom bap flavor, but also great song making and that’s something that’s pretty rare in today’s day in age. So listen to Welfare, hear the soul…the funk…the cuts…and the lyricism and tell me it’s not remarkable hip hop. This album is phenomenal.

Single You Out: Theo3 – Nap Time

Theo3 is someone I have promoted for years and when we talked about artists who have been slept on, he is at the top of the list. This guy is an amazing talent. He makes the kind of music that I love. It’s boom bap and it’s intelligent. And on this track, Nap Time, you combine those things with some Biggie and Ghetto Boys samples, you’ve got something really amazing on your hands. Did I mention Theo3 produces this joint? All the more amazing.

Strong Minded is one of my favorite releases this year and you guys should hear it. After listening to this song…you will be craving the whole project.
