I missed this video for House Money four weeks ago when it dropped, but it’s never too late to share dope music, especially when I think it’s incredibly slept on. Vic Spencer and IAMGAWD let loose over a rock guitar infused production, reminding you that Chicago is not to be forgotten and the talent that calls the city home is second to none.

Single You Out: M-Dot – Hold On (prod. by Pilze Beats)
M-Dot remains an inspiration to me individually in my own trials and tribulations as I am sure he does for countless of others. If music is a vehicle to connect listeners, then M-Dot is definitively the artist driving it home as the artist. He just dropped his latest album, A Notebook With No Light, and it delivers on that consistency to connect people to music and message. And that message is resilience. The message is that things will change and the landscape will become difficult, but hold fast, the light is there.

There are more than a couple of wonderful things about this joint…so number one…Superior…a producer I am a really big fan of, hit me up about his new track with Let The Dirt Say Amen…Hopeful Studies. And if you are not familiar with Superior…please study up…pun slightly intended. The man has worked with several of your favorite artists and is likely responsible for some of your favorite music. I always look out for music from him. Next…his collaboration on this track with Let The Dirt Say Amen is a tribute to the inspiration of the late KA. KA was revered by many for unique insight, thoughtfulness, and music. Hopeful Studies is a “tipping of the hat” to a pioneer. Let The Dirt Say Amen has many ways of acknowledging his respect for KA. His entire cadence to more nuanced references in his rhyme prove as testament which is fitting as Superior takes us to church with this production. It all ties itself nicely together. Single You Out: Hus Kingpin & Rozewood – Murder For Hire (ft. Little Vic)
I saw the team of Hus Kingpin and Rozewood linked up again for a project for which I was very excited. Rozewood just recently came back on the scene and that alone is a blessing, and to rejoin Hus is a double tap headshot. But…little did I know…I must have missed it initially…they brought on the hitter Little Vic for a guest spot on the track , Murder For Hire. That’s three verbal executioners on one track where the lyricism of each is front and center. I just had to share with you. Make sure you check out the album, WAVE GHXST if you enjoy this joint. Single You Out: Ruste Juxx & Preed One – Depression (ft. DJ TMB)
Ruste Juxx and Preed One probably connected with a million people on their latest single, Depression. We all have felt or feel it, and the two tackle it head on. Verse one addresses the symptoms and verse two tackles possible solutions. I love it when artists tackle vulnerable topics, especially ones that people have a hard time speaking on. Lyrically… this is poignant and hits home…musically the strings and drums let you walk that path…and the Scarface sample amplified by DJ TMB make this joint one to remember. The album, Imperishable Artistry coming in a few months!
Doc Da Mindbenda – Four Of A Kind (Ft. Rufus Sims & Tru Foe) (Video)
Producer Doc Da Mindbenda celebrates his 44th birthday with us by releasing this really dope track and video, Four Of A Kind, feautring Rufus Sims and Tru Foe. This track has a bit of everything. The exchange between Sims and Foe show really great chemistry with trading bars and blending street narratives in “fours” seamlessly. And Mindbenda not only hits you with one dope beat, but switches to another one in mid stride. Really great music.

Single You Out: Myer Clarity & Fresh Kils – OCDC
I really wanted to showcase the new project between emcee Myer Clarity and producer Fresh Kils, OCDC. And what better way to that to share the title track with you.
I honestly did not know the name Myer Clairty off the top of my head, but Fresh Kils was a name I recollected so I decided to take this record for a spin. And I think there is so much fresh an innovative in both the production and the rhymes. This breaks the monotony and ventures your mind and ears outside the box if you will.
The “digital” atmosphere Fresh Kils creates gives Myer Clarity ample chaos to release the thoughts in his mind. I imagine being trapped in a padded room in a straight jacket as the video for this song…it’s fun…dope…and even more…interesting. Thank god for being interesting!
Hus Kingpin – You Heard Of Me (prod. by MK Ortiz) (Video)
MK Ortiz put me onto the fact that this project with Hus Kingpin was brewing about a month ago. And that had me pretty excited because ever since I heard his collaboration with Asun Eastwood, Ask God For Help, last year, I was wanting to hear more from him as a producer…now we get that chance with what seems like a great combination in Hus Kingpin. Hus blesses the track with literal poetry in motion giving some lyricism to sink your ears into. And MK Ortiz does not disappoint with his production…yet again demonstrating a great ear for sound and rhythm…I specifically love his use of guitar loops.
And while I am not sure…I feel like this is the tip of the iceberg between the two. Let’s hope there is more to come.

We got that for you right here with another video single from producer Mickey Blue featuring StressWon on the mic and Tone Spliff on the cuts. Blue drops the ominous rhythm while StressWon hits you with a staccato flow…and to finish it up…the venerable Tone Spliff scratches the final stamp on it.
This is off of the really dope and project I have been really looking forward to, ILLusion of Permanence. I listened to it on Spotify last night, and it’s in by bandcamp cart today. Nothing but bangers on this. If you love hip hop…you will love this!
