Little Vic utilizes and adapts a DJ Insite reference that was once to be further developed for a production for Nature (who has since chosen a different gem) . Vic concocted a couple of verses and what we have as a result is the collaborative effort, All Work & No Play. We all know Vic’s prowess for dropping hot wittiness (yes, I said that and don’t regret it one bit). Enjoy how this track fell into place.
Rite Hook – Cursed Man (Video)
No one has ever accused Boston’s Rite Hook in being conventional, and this video and song is certainly not conventional. This video reminds me of an 8MM that you weren’t supposed to find from a horror movie. It’s dark, grainy, and just a little sinister. Sinister also describes Rite Hook’s flow and lyrics on Cursed Man. It’s just enough to make you feel a little uneasy. Uneasy or not, Rite Hook is one of the more unique talents from the Bean and I love his ability to do his own hooks. It’s one of the things that sets him apart from his contemporaries. The production from Cursed Man comes courtesy of Rob Whitaker. His new album, From The Wrong, drops on November 11th.
AG Da Coroner – Crushed Grapes (2013)
Artist: AG Da Coroner
Album: Crushed Grapes
Tracklisting:
1. Welcome To My World
2. Problem (ft. Lord Nez)
3. Not Gonna Cry
4. Ghetto Love (ft. Lord Nez & M. Reck)
5. Luca Brasi (Sleep)
6. Stars Are Born (ft. M. Reck)
7. What We Have (ft. Meyhem Lauren)
8. Live From Cheeta (ft. Lord Nez, Nutso, Spit Gemz, Realm Reality & Termanology)
9. New York Never Left
Note:
I saw AG Da Coroner make comments on Twitter a few weeks ago suggesting that some underground fans didn’t like Crushed Grapes because it wasn’t all just “hot bars”. I couldn’t fathom it when I read it, so I feel obligated to set people straight. This project is full of not only top notch bars, but also production, guest shots, and content. There’s really no other way to put it. I have never heard the Coroner make anything remotely soft or borderline and to suggest this project is less than stellar seems sacrilegious in the house of hip hop.
Esoteric & Stu Bangas – The Danger (ft. Vinnie Paz, Celph Titled & Apathy) (Video)
Video single off of Esoteric and Stu Bangas’ forthcoming album, Machete Mode. Part of the AOTP gang joins Esoteric on the cut in the form of Vinnie Paz, Celph Titled, and Apathy. It incorporates a favorite Walter White turn of phrase from the now officially ended TV show, Breaking Bad. Check it!
N.B.S. – Perm Time (Prod by Snowgoons) (Video)
It seems like N.B.S. just released their album, The Dispensary, yesterday. But I guess it’s been close to a year since that release, Now they are back again with new material from a new album, The Smokefest. On this track, the fellas prove great multitaskers dropping hot bars over Snowgoons production, and and getting some haircuts. There’s nothing wrong with that!
Single You Out: Archie Bang – Apollo Creed
Archie Bang is back with a brand new cut from his forthcoming album, Never Say Die Vol. 1. The production come from Jean Kengz. Bang uses boxing as an analogy for being an emcee in today’s game. He’s in it to win it and failure is not an option. This is what he is destined to do.
Single You Out: Reckonize Real – Beyond Recognition (ft. Reks and Mayhem)
Reckonize Real’s new album, Dopamine, is dropping on October 29th and Beyond Recognition is another single from that project. Reks and Mayhem (dude has been staying busy this year) each throw an ill 16 but the beat on this track is what’s going to grab you. In my mind the production sounds like a meld of hip hop and sounds from India. Plus the cuts from ToneDeff 2Cutz are precise and that adds the right finishing touch to the track. This will stay in rotation for sure.

Single You Out: DJ Tray – Fire Power (ft. Saigon, Blaq Poet & GQ Nothin’ Pretty)
Fire Power is an appropriate name for this song. The beat, samples, and scratches all add the appropriate level of intensity for these gritty emcees. Saigon, Blaq Poet, and GQ Nothin’ Pretty all bring their unique styles and voices to the track and leave an indelible imprint. There is an updated version of the track that adds a verse from King Magnetic and that will appear on DJ Tray’s forthcoming album, BWTG.
Single You Out: SGT. Over – Black Death (ft. Ransom)
SGT. Over has been relentless in 2013 cranking out songs and readying us for his album in 2014, entitled, Big Music. For the cut, Black Death, Sarge tags in the Jersey vet, Ransom, who is coming off his own success with the Statik Selektah produced album, The Proposal. I am not sure who the producer is for the track as there is no credits, but the sound knocks. Sarge and Ransom’s voice give the song a nice contrast. I am sure you will feel this.
Alterbeats – Grustle (ft. Shabaam Sahdeeq, Skeezo and Mic Handz) (Video)
Alterbeats’ Class Struggle is dropping on October 29th. The two songs I have heard from the project have both been fantastic but I expect nothing less from the French producer. He also only works with some of the most gifted emcees in the game, so the combination of talent is always ill. This time we have Shabaam Sahdeeq, Skeezo, and Mic Handz, all of whom are ruthless with the verbals. Mic Handz, in particular, has got the flow going on this track. Don’t sleep!
