Single You Out: The Audible Doctor – F.U.B.U. (ft. Von Pea) (prod. marink)

I quickly played this song a couple of days ago.  I liked it but I didn’t really sit and listen to the lyricism on this joint.  The Audible Doctor is more known for his production perhaps but he has a really nice flow and  what he speaks on during this track is relavent and prevalent.  If everyone asks for a free album, T-Shirt, or ticket for a show, who will be left to support?

I can see this track becoming an anthem of sorts…

The project, Think That… drops on September 25th.

Note:

This is easily one of my most anticipated releases of the year.  Ever since I heard The Audible Doctor produced cut, Stayin’ Busy, I have wanted to hear the entire album from Silent Knight.  And now that I finally have it in my hands (after waiting  months upon months), I am not disappointed in the least.  SK has a commanding presence on the mic and that becomes more and more apparent with each track on Busy Is My Best Friend.

Silent Knight – Stayin’ Busy (Video)

I am going to keep on you about this emcee, Silent Knight.  I have been following this man’s music for a minute and his skills are of the highest caliber.  There’s no doubt about it. When Busy Is My Best Friend drops, you can bet that SK brought his best to the table.  There’s no album that I am more anticipating this year.  Couple SK’s skills with the fact The Audible Doctor is behind the boards, I reckon this song is my single of the year so far.

Single You Out: Brown Bag All Stars

Soul Khan

When Soul Khan released his debut album, Soul Like Khan, he could have rested on his laurels and taken a breather, but to the contrary the man has just stepped up the pace a bit.  He released the single Soulstice II and he had a remix released for Shot Glass Magnified ft. Sene.  The new beat was brought on by The Audible Doctor.  I also just saw on bandcamp that someone is doing a mash up album of Soul Like Khan.   I haven’t heard it yet but the the prequel is HERE.

Koncept

Koncept also has been keeping himself busy since releasing his EP, Playing Life.  He released a physical CD of that same project and added a few extra tracks for the effort. He also has dropped a few notable gems like Day Dreaming , the remix to Playing Life (prod. by Marink), and most recently his DJ Booth feature, Things You Do. His street album, More Than Meets The Eye drops on February 22nd, so be on the lookout for that!

The Audible Doctor

The Audible Doctor basically has produced 1/2 of the cuts previously mentioned.  He has also blessed heads like Magestik Legend, Boog Brown, and most recently he did a beat for one of my favorite emcees, Silent Knight, for the cut Staying Busy which will be featured on here very soon.

J57

J57 is the man who is always passing on what the BBAS are doing and it is much appreciated.  In addition to keeping the world informed he has also been on his grind as of recent.  Late in 2010 he and Sene released the EP, Eye Don’t Dream…But I Do.  He also released the Digital Society instrumental album, which had some GREAT bonus tracks including a remix called Still Phenomenal.  He also has done a video for the title track featuring Jefferson Price which you can see below.   Most recently he did this extremely dope beat for Top $ Raz ft. YC The Cynic called The Plague.

I won’t spent a whole lot of time big uppin’ this release after giving a more extensive review of Chapter 2 earlier.  Magestik Legend is talented and is backed by some talented producers and guest emcees on this release.  I am just trying to get the populous prepped for his November 30th release, The Great Escape.   My favorite off of this joint is the track All Eye Know. You can stream and download this mixtape (separated tracks version) below.

Note:

Magestik Legend is getting us ready for his album dropping November 30th, entitled The Great Escape.  This is going to be his first full length album since 2007 and I would expect heads to support it wholeheartedly.   To Be Continued…Chapter 2 is obviously the second installment of a series of mixtapes to prep for this release.

Honestly, this is more of an album in itself.  It’s got a ton of dope songs and very little filler and the other things that get in the way of a good cut.  It is hosted by none other than, Rapper Big Pooh.  If you are unfamiliar with Magestik Legend but appreciate intricate lyricism, you will love this release.  Magestik Legend’s lyrical prowess is amazing.  The way he bends the English language to his will puts him in an elite group of emcees. He can flip on a variety of different production styles and BPMS and sounds dope in all instances. The song CARBON really will illustrate his abilities as an emcee.

Astronote handles the bulk of the production duties and I think he is very underrated or under-mentioned.  His work on tracks like The Run Down, Get.Ends.Hide., and Vice Gripz show a great deal of polish and really give Magestik Legend a powerful sound to work with.  The Audible Doctor also lends his hand to one track, Brand NEW, which ends up sounding incredible.  It has a very soulful vibe.  I love the samples this guy uses.  He has a gift and a knack for finding and incorporating those dope samples.

What’s my favorite track?  Take your pick.   I could name any of the aforementioned tracks as a favorite.   But I won’t be wishy-washy.  CARBON.  Bottom line is give the man his due and recognition.  Get all of his material.  You will definitely appreciate it.  Listen below…
