Kyle Hubbard – It’s Burning (Video)

The man Kyle Hubbard is back at it again, thank goodness.  I personally think he is the nicest lyricist my state of Texas has to offer.  He has that blend of intelligence and grittyness I appreciate.  His new album, You’re Not That Special drops in two weeks, on March 20th.  And even though, you’re not that special, you can trust that his new album will be.

Single You Out: Kyle Hubbard – It’s Making Sense b/w Don’t Ask

It’s Kyle Hubbard !  It’s been a few minutes since we have heard some new music from the Houston lyricist but you know what?  If he drops heat like this on his new album, it is all worth the wait.  I am partial to the first track, It’s Making Sense.   It gets no deeper.  Hubbard has a way of bringing thought provoking music to the table.  Hard to define the style but he definitely had me thinking on this track.  Enjoy and get ready for his new album dropping next year.

Single You Out: Kyle Hubbard – Around The Way

I posted on Kyle Hubbard’s release, Tomorrow In Retrospect, a couple of months ago.  I was encouraged to hear some great hip hop coming out of H-Town.   I thought Kyle was a lyrical breath of fresh air for Texas.  He sent me an email with his latest effort, Around The Way, produced by Djay Cas.

Now even though, I liked Kyle’s last release, I am still dubious of most things that hit my inbox.  I only post things on the blog that I absolutely love, regardless of past efforts.  Well, I should stop being so cynical.  Kyle puts together a terrific ‘Ode To Houston’, and he does so inclass.  Kyle, in every track I have heard, never dumbs his music down.  He has that unique blend of being able to keep his sound close to the streets but with an elevated mind.  Check it!

Note:

Houston hip hop does not receive the respect it deserves outside of Texas.  At least that’s my impression.  It is steroetyped and pigeon holed into southern drawls and classified in the gangster “genre” as a general rule of thumb.  What people don’t know is that there are a grip of ill lyricists and artists who have the ability to make  great songs.  For the purposes of destroying these misconceptions, I have decided to use Kyle Hubbard and his EP, Tomorrow In Retrospect as my main example.
