Note:

The Regiment’s album, The Panic Button, is due out in a little less than a week and I thought I would share their collection of tracks that they have been putting out for a few months now.  They are all pretty dope though The New Danger featuring Kaimbr is probably my favorite.  I expect this album to be very good base upon what I have heard from the Detroit duo and Kevin Nottingham has a pretty solid track record thus far of releasing dope music on his HIPNOTT Records imprint.

Single You Out: Blacktivity – Knuckle Sandwhich

Bunch of artists are hitting my Twitter line today.  A lot of cosigns going on as well which is what lead me to listen to this joint from Blacktivity entitled, Knuckle Sandwhich.   I like the Illtone’s (The Lyricists) voice a lot.  It commands your attention.  The way the Bandcamp page reads i looks like there may be a full project dropping in November.  If I get more information on that, I will let you know.

DJ Brans – Worldwide ft. M-Dot and Armageddon (Video)

I brought you the single last week and now I bring you the visuals and all I can say is…WOW.  This cut is dope and this video is on par with music.  I love what they did with the lighting in the hand gestures.  The whole concept of a pseudo battle taking place between these two very ill emcees is a good look.  It would be cool to do a whole album as such. DJ Brans album BRANStorm is dropping this year and if this cut is any indication, I will definitely be copping.

Kyle Rapps – On Air Mixtape (2011)

Artist: Kyle Rapps

Album: On Air Mixtape

Source:  Can’t Remember

Tracklisting:

1. Lost Message
2. Streets Move On
3. Universe Traveler (ft. Talib Kweli)
4. Angel
5. J’ai Dormi
6. Modular (ft. C-Rayz Walz)
7. Lost In Translation
8. Love Love 2  (ft. KRS-One & Homeboy Sandman)

Note:

This is my first time noting, Kyle Rapps musical efforts on this site.  I have previously listened to his other releases, Great and ReEdutainment, and while I think those were both good, I think On Air really takes a giant step forward.   I really enjoy listening to Kyle’s flow on this joint.  It’s slow and deliberate but still shows a lot of personality.  His lyrics are also very accessible and relate able.   There are a lot of dope guest shots but none of them really overshadow what Kyle Rapps has done with this project.

Single You Out: L.E.G.A.C.Y. – Resignation (I Quit)

The last few songs I have heard from L.E.G.A.C.Y.  have all been strong.  Whether they be his own, or he’s dropping a verse on someone elses project, he ALWAYS drops solid bars. I really don’t want dude to quit making hip hop music.  I think he has exceptional talent.  First Supastition and now L.E.G.A.C.Y.?  I digress.  I am going to keep enjoying his music as long as he is making it.  You should too. Enjoy this track!

Note:

We are only about three days away from One Be Lo’s next official release, L.A.B.O.R.  I already detailed Vol. 1 a couple of weeks ago and this grouping of One Be Lo’s previous works is equally as dope.   When you hear both of these volumes, it gives the listener a true appreciation of how gifted One Be Lo really is.  I really dig the whole thing but I remember when I first heard the joint Chemistry that he did with Grynch and Combat with Verbal Kent.  Those tracks really resonate with me and both outstanding examples of lyricism.

Again, Laborhood Vol. 2 is only $3 and it would be a damn shame if you didn’t own both volumes.  You are getting a grip of dope tracks for less than the cost of one album.  I could do a whole write up on the tracks you hear on this release but I am going to hold off until L.A.B.O.R. drops this coming Tuesday, September 6th.   Be sure you pick that up when the time comes!

Update:  The Laborhood releases are free!  Free up until Sept. 6th and his other releases are only $1.00! Pick them all up!

Note:

PH  (formerly known as Pumpkinhead) has been making music for a minute.  I think I have upwards of around eight releases from PH in my Itunes right now, so the man has shown a great deal of longevity when it comes to being able to work on his music through out the years.   He has also been apart of the Grind Time battle circuit.  He has used his experience as a polished emcee to reak havoc on competition.  You need only to check your favorite search engine for “PH + Grind Time” to check out countless YouTube videos of his battles.
