Single You Out: Koncept – Watch The Sky Fall (ft. Royce Da 5’9″)

Koncept does not let up.  He has been relentless the last two weeks.  He’s dropped three singles and two videos making it hard for me to choose what cut I am feeling hte most. They are all so very good.  This one does have the advantages of having Marco Polo on the beat and Nickel Nine on a guest verse.  You just can’t go wrong there.  December 13th is when his solo project, Awaken, drops.  Plug that into your cell phone and save the date…

I am sending you over to DJ Booth to rate and potentially purchase the single on Itunes…

Azma Da Instigator – Let Me Show You (ft. Planet Asia and Phil Da Agony)

Truthfully, these are some of the most distinct voices in the game right now.  You definitely know who’s who when Planet Asia and Phil Da Agony start spitting bars.  But don’t sleep on Azma.  I bought his new album, Thought You Knew, and that joint bangs.  It’s loaded with great guests (as you can see) and he more than holds his own on the mic.  The guy really has a voice to emcee, so if you like this joint check out the album.

Single You Out: Laelo Hood – Land Of Broken Dreams (Ft. Lyriciss and Kokayi)

Is it just me is is Laelo batting 100 right now?  What track has he dropped in 2011 that hasn’t been excellent?  None.  Zero. Zilch.  This time he teams up with another favorite of mine, Lyriciss as they discuss the pitfalls of the music industry.  Shout out to The Bad Abbot on the production.  He has produced more than just a few bangers this year. This song is off of Laelo’s forthcoming album, Life In High Defnintion.

Note:

I must admit, I was not expecting a Passalacqua full length this year. As many of you know, I reviewed their sensational, self titled release earlier this year.   That release is a hard one to top and it took me a while to give Zebehazy Summer enough spins to appropriately differentiate the two.  The main difference is in the production.  Dr. B produced their first release and I thought it had a more straight forward hip hop appeal.  Erno the Inferno really brings the funk and soul out in the tracks.   It took me a moment to digest this new flavor.  But with that being said…Mister and Blaksmith take this new style and really lay claim to each track.
