Respect Tha God – Oookay (Video)

In truth,  I really enjoy this song.  It’s fun.  It’s light hearted.  It’s also infectious.  It had my entire office  rolling in English accents.  You know it’s a good song when it can make the people move out their seats. If I didn’t see Respect Tha God using this accent, I wouldn’t have believed it was him.  He has a trademark gruff baritone voice. Shout out to Respect Tha God for doing something different and taking a creative chance.  Kudos to you sir!

Note:

I am finally getting around to writing about this fresh album from the Minneapolis duo, Unknown Prophets.  I just recently started listening to their material.  Big Jess’ solo work was instrumental in leading me through their back catalog.  I am impressed with what they have done in the past, but I think World Premier 2 is their best work to date.

Single You Out: Kyle Hubbard – It’s Making Sense b/w Don’t Ask

It’s Kyle Hubbard !  It’s been a few minutes since we have heard some new music from the Houston lyricist but you know what?  If he drops heat like this on his new album, it is all worth the wait.  I am partial to the first track, It’s Making Sense.   It gets no deeper.  Hubbard has a way of bringing thought provoking music to the table.  Hard to define the style but he definitely had me thinking on this track.  Enjoy and get ready for his new album dropping next year.

Hasan Salaam – .1911 (Video)

Hasan Salaam is a dope artist as we have already showcased here on this site but more than that he is touching lives by engaging with youth in impoverished areas of the world.  The proceeds of his forthcoming project, Music Is My Weapon will go to set up schools and develop clean water in Guinea-Bissau.   I am going to cop it for sure.

On an artistic note, this is a very entertaining video that I am sure you will enjoy.  If you want to make an early donation towards the initiative you can visit http://www.indiegogo.com/ittakesavillage.

Music still has power!

Single You Out: Sutter Kain – Where I Belong

I am going to have to go back and check this man’s back catalog because the production on this joint is definitely on point as are the lyrical content. I have seen a lot of blog posts about this man over the years and for one reason or another, I just passed on him.  That is until I saw his and Darko’s collaborative effort,  Emotional Disorder.  There are some real dope joints on that album.    If you are feeling this joint as I am, stay up on this man and his music.
