Alright, this emcee, JaeWon from Sweden is busting flows in his second language better than many of you do in your first! This is a dope song. The music is good, the lyrics and flow are on point, and the chorus holds it together. It has a little bit of radio appeal to it if he ever wanted to go that route. Sweden stand up!
Single You Out: Awkword – Back To BK (ft. D.Julien, Dom O Briggs, Poison Pen, and Tone Spliff)
It’s still all aces when it comes to the music that Awkword is making. It’s a different line up but the same dope result. All of the emcees ride this stripped down production to the death. It’s grimy, gritty and extremely likable. I am not even going to ask about the World View release date…not going to do it…release it already so I can contribute to the cause!
Single You Out: Animal Pak (Don Streat and Praverb the Wyse) – Banger
There may not be a more appropriately named song this year. Simple, yet well earned. Croup has put together a top ten production this year, while Praverb and Don Streat put axe to grindstone creating sharp verses (you like that one don’t you.) I like the idea of this, ‘Animal Pak’ group. A good combination that is going to turn a lot of heads.
Single You Out: Skrewtape – 3 Ring Circus (ft. C-Rayz Walz, Shabaam Sahdeeq, Mr Green, DJ A Sharp)
Skrewtape brings you a track on his yet to be released, Skumbag Millionaires. This track is produced by the venerable, Mr. Green, and he releases and understated yet incredibly dope beat. Each of the emcees does the track right making you anticipate what this album may have to offer.
Alias & Fakts One – Sorry (Video)
I can’t tell you that I was enthralled with the video. Part swere funny, some not so much but I do like the song and the production from Fakts One. The content is also dope as well.
2nd Chances is their new album that is dropping on August 7rh.
Snowgoons – What That West Like (ft Planet Asia, Krondon, Banish, Ras Kass, Aims) (VIDEO)
I think this next Snowgoons project is going to prove to be interesting. The production doesn’t sound as “orchestral” or “symphonic” to me. The songs have a more pure boom-bap flavor to me. This track is ruled by Planet Asia. The man never disappoints.
Dynasty is dropping next week. Be on the lookout.
Check The Discography: Chaundon
For this rendition of ‘Check The Discography’ I wanted to highlight the releases of one, Chaundon. Chaundon has been hard at work on his craft for quite some time and I don’t think that effort gets the recognition it deserves. Chaundon cut his teeth in this hip hop game much the same way Skyzoo and Torae have, as they are his contemporaries. He has been incredibly resilient in a very hostile industry and continues to craft ‘his’ music the way ‘he’ wants. His albums and mixtapes are sure to appease even though most fickle of hip hop heads.
My personal favorite album is, No Excuses. That album is chocked full of big beats and personality. In terms of my favorite track…I am going to go with 7even off of Black Dynamite. That is such a creative track in which he lays out the Seven Deadly Sins as his children. Really dope! So check his discography, give it a listen, cop the albums you want, and raise your glass to the man, Chaundon.
Single You Out: O’Hene Savant – 2Pac is #DEAD b/w Smart People
These cuts have been out for a while but just recently brought to my attention. They are from O’Hene Savant’s album, The Unknown, which is available now to purchase. Why am I posting these tracks? I think there are a lot of unique things about his music. The artist is speaking intelligently and the production is unlike the cookie cutter projects that we are treated to on a daily basis. And while it is different, it’s not so divergent from the beaten path that it treads on being weird. Check it out…

L*Roneous is back at it again. That is he is back at twisting the english language for the listener’s amusement or amazement (which ever comes first). I make no secret about the artists that I like and the reasons that I like them, but L*Roneous appeal should be universal. It shouldn’t take more than a couple of listens to recognize his immense talent.
Single You Out: Serge Severe – Seasons (prod. by Zapata)
It hasn’t been too long since Serge Severe brought us Service Without A Smile with Terminill, but he is not about to rest on his laurels. He is back at it again with a project on the way featuring production from Zapata.
This cut is something to vibe out to this Friday and ease you into your weekend and you know Severe’s going to bring you those crisp bars regardless of the production.
