The Fraternity stays the course and could do no wrong in 2014 and this track, I Shot Lincoln, proves that fact. Sleep and Kue The Vandal go off on Dope Antelope’s sinister production. Antelope is hands down my producer of the year if this pace continues. I can’t hide that fact. No one puts darkness to music like Antelope. And if you like lines, these emcees have got lines….

Wow. Boaz just made me place a push pin on my map where Pittsburgh is located. This song is hot and word on the street it’s producer under a pseudonym from one Mac Miller. I ain’t hatin’. That’s impossible when a song is this good. Boaz seems to have great command as his skills as an emcee. I’m looking forward to hearing a full compliment of songs.

I just found this on Bandcamp the other day and confronted Cayoz on Twitter as to why he didn’t let me know it was dropping. His response: ‘Not really promoting this as it’s just to tide people over until Beyond The Moniker drops’. Well, he may not be up on promoting but we are here to make you aware of such things. That’s our duty! A few tracks from Cayoz is always worth noting. I am not going to review it track by track. we have featured at least one of these songs previously as a single. But make sure that you DL this for your listening pleasure. What you will find especially dope is the Album Sampler at the end. You are going to hear some snippets of what is sure to be one of the better albums of 2014.
When Awon and Dephlow say they are bringing that real hip hop, you can bet on that 100%. This song, from the beat to the lyrics, is authentic hip hop flavor that the HHD audience is sure to love. This song is off of their collaborative album, Dephacation. I have yet to check the project, though this song gave me the incentive I need to give it a listen. If the album is anything like this cut, we will have a winner for sure.
Reks is simply one of the finest emcees in the business. His lyrics are razor sharp and Hazardis Soundz delivers the banging rhythms. Check out their latest mixtape, All Eyes On Reks, to hear more choice cuts just like this. Their new album, Eyes Watching God, is due out later this year.
I don’t really like to put up these ‘episodes’ on the blog. I would rather artists just craft the song and let people give a listen. But Heesun Lee and and Freestyle Fam have really left me no choice. The sheer level of skill prevented in this video is undeniable. The flows are nasty.
I wasn’t really up on Heesun Lee but I can say that I am a fan now. Freestyle Fam continues to offer up ill flow after ill flow. I can’t wait to hear an album.
I am violating that rule again where I don’t usually post emcees rocking over instrumentals, but when Spit Gemz spits, rules are forgotten and replaced with dope music. Gemz kills this production!
Ahhhh yeah! I’ve been waiting for this collaboration between our Artist of the Year, Nutso and one of my favorite producers, Dee Metto. It gets no realer than this, folks. Dee Metto hits with production that sounds like audible terrorist attack and Nutso drops some slick/tough wordplay. I am going to assume that this is the intro track for their forthcoming project, Fluushang Metto, which drops on March 1st.
This is a heartfelt dedication track from the artists that comprise N3WTHOUGHT (My’key Iso, Brandy Shanice, and Danny Watts). I am not sure about the background of the track but I can tell it was made with the backing of a lot of emotion and features one of the most underrated beatsmiths of all time, Freddie Joachim.
I have been sitting on this interview for a minute, waiting for the day to come where I could share it with you guys. I present to you today HHD’s interview with Mr. Live. A lot of new readers may be unfamiliar with Mr. Live, but to those of us who grew up during the advent of the independent hip hop music scene, his name rings bells. Along with groups like Jigmastas and Natural Elements, Mr. Live was releasing a slew of dope 12″ releases that have become revered among heads in my age group. He has one of the most unique voices in the game and I am glad he is back making more music. As 1/2 of Drama Class, along with Earl Blaize, he is releasing his new EP, Conflicted, today.
