I don’t post promotional material as a rule of thumb, but I have a special place in my heart for music made by the Local-Mu12 collective. I have actually been asking about the status of this release for a couple of months now as it was originally slated for a Labor Day release. It got pushed back with the ever popular TBD release. But now it’s hitting the interwebs on December 17th so write that date down. This is a quick sampler of the entire album and if this doesn’t wet your appetite, you MFers can simply stay malnourished!
Single You Out: Frank Ramz – Trouble Child (prod. by Natstar)
I for one Frank Ramz is back at it this year releasing some more music. It’s also good to hear that his project, Medicine Filled Candy is dropping soon. I find Ramz to be a unique commodity because he’s not just rhymes, he’s creating stories that have meaning while enlisting his God given talent to write rhymes. This particular cut is autobiographical. Check his first verse:
started in the dirt & they ain’t even give me soap,
but being rooted in the soil is the best place for growth.
but being trapped in the trap & having to have dealings while reaching a glass ceiling kept chipping off at my hope.
i found love up in a dark place her name just happened to be music,
gave life to the lifeless shining the brightest & truest.
my money wasn’t moving the the way it shouldve been moving,
& im so done w/ retail im ready to be a nudist.

Alterbeats – Class Struggle (2013)
I wish I had more time to do a proper write up of this release but as it is time is short and I want to at least let you know that i’s out there. I just finished giving Class Struggle it’s first listen and similar to their previous release, The French Revolution, in that it’s chocked full of bangers. I of course have my favorite tracks: Brass Knuckles by Halfabrick, Real Talk by Skeezo, and Idol by Bekay are tracks that will be on repeat.

Single You Out: Jermiside & Danny Diggs – Victory Is Mine
Jermiside drops the second single, Victory Is Mine, from his sophomore collaborative album with producer Danny Diggs, Quiet As Kept. Jermiside is my favorite emcee from the talented Lessondary Crew (I probably said the same thing about Spec Boogie a year or so ago, but whatever. It’s a tie). He has a very smooth style that is only amplified with the production of Danny Diggs. This song in particular is inspiring. You truly can’t keep a good man down.

Single You Out: SGT. Over – Yesterday (ft. Just Putt)
New SGT. Over is always a good thing, this time featuring Just Putt on the chorus. The production comes from Knoxx. There’s nothing not to like about this cut. It’s got solid production, content, and Just Putt adds his unique flavor to that chorus. Add the joint to your collection!
Single You Out: Koncept – My Peace (prod. by Numonics)
Is Numonics underrated? Is he underappreciated? Perhaps the answer is yes elsewhere but his sound is beloved in HHD’s neck of the woods. And here he is producing the next Koncept project in it’s entirety. Nice. This cut is off the rocker. I love the sound, the vibe, and Koncept’s flow. So write down the date: October 22nd. That’s when the Numonics x Koncept collaborative EP, Live On drops.

Kon Boogie – The Game Needs Me (Video)
The first visual off Kon Boogie’s free album has arrived. The Game Needs Me is the intro track on Believe Or Never Grow produced by V Dizzle and shot by Live Loud Ent. The video is pretty straightforward and Kon Boogie wastes no time getting in the zone. It hits some of the main landmarks in his home town of Corona Queens in a fairly creative way. Using on location shots and what seems to be Kon Boogie in front of a projector to break up the sequence and add texture. All in all it’s a great concept for some of these overused locations and definitely worth the watch. His FREE album is still available on his site
Shaz Illyork – Chopper (G-Mix) (Video)
This is one of the tightest cuts off of Shaz Illyork’s Deadstock Revival. The Illyorker is joined by Nems, Nutso, Poison Pen, and Danse Daimons for this track. Those emcees, my readers, are some of the hardest rhymers doing it. Be sure to check out the album if you have not already.
Single You Out: Kon Boogie – Oh Mane (ft. Eye N See) (Prod. By 5th Seal)
Finally Kon Boogie’s new album, Believe Or Never Grow, has a release date. It’s dropping on September 11th. Up until that time he’s going to be dropping one “bonus” track a week that will not be on the actual album. Now if this was on the cutting room floor, you know the album has got to be tight. This track is nice! It’s up tempo and fun. You’ve got 5th Seal on the beat and some guest bars from, Eye-N-See.
J.R. The Beast – 32 Chambers (Video)
My first question after watching this video is how J.R. The Beast not more known? I mean, that is one COLD FLOW. He’s got a great delivery over this Araabmuzik banger of beat. Song is fire. I am going to be on the lookout for some more material from the man.
