I like Sommy Lovell’s style. It’s unlike any other I can think of right now. It’s subtle in it’s message and voice but musically quite powerful. I definitely respect this artist’s perspective. There’s lots of great instrumentation going on here as well to go along with thought provoking lyricism.
It’s yet another Friday in the month of December which means we are going digging in the vaults of Mr. Peet Caliber. If you haven’t been paying attention the last couple of weeks, you have been missing out. Caliber’s extremely proficient at dropping banger after banger. Dub MD got me tuned in to these fellas and while the video is from over 6 months ago, I am sharing it now because Bedlam Brethren’s project, Black Feather Messengers is really dope. I gave it the once over yesterday and this is a really tight album. It’s very dark and the samples used for each song are impeccable. It was really dope. This is one of the cuts from the album. If you like this, consider copping their project. It is well worth the dolo.
This is an unreleased joint from Apollo Brown and Guilty Simpson. Quite frankly it’s just as dope as the cuts from the album, Dice Game. Go out and cop that album if you have not already.
A jazzy vibe with certain old school flair from producer Exile for this Zoolay cut. Definitely some good hip hop to keep you entertained. This cut is off of Zoolay’s new album, West Kept Secret and I guess I missed the boat on this album. Either I was told and didn’t remember or simply wasn’t told…but there’s no need to lay blame.

Dude carries himself rather nicely on the microphone. Too often we get caught up in the fact that an emcee should resemble this that and the other and forget that mic skillz come in all shapes, sizes, and colors (and hairstyles).

Stryfe rocking over some 70s funk/boom-bap. The Local-Mu12 representative is prone to keeping his music fresh and this is a prime example of that. Marc Byrd on the production tip.
Stryfe’s new album, The Last Resort is due in the first quarter of the coming year and it’s something to be excited about.
