YC The Cynic – Molotovs At Poseidon (Video)

I am a sucker for Greek mythology combined with hip hop flavor.  A weird combination indeed but imagine how my curiosity was piqued when I saw the title:  Molotovs At Poseidon.

It did not disappoint at all.  I went through what remains of my inbox and this track was a glaring omission on my part.  A dope production with superb lyricism from YC The Cynic.

This track will apparently be surfacing on his debut album which drops in August, entitled, GNK.

Single You Out: The Audible Doctor – The Vibe (ft. Oddisee x Hassan Mackey)

Smooth really doesn’t hit the tip of the ice berg when describing this joint.   First, this beat should bring a smile to anyone listening, young and old alike.  It’s mellow, jazzy, and just plain fun.  It’s ok to have a good time making and listening to music.  Something that I think both bloggers and artist alike can meditate on for a moment.  Secondly, you’ve got The Audible Doctor, Oddisee, and Hassan Mackey kicking rhymes collectively.  How can we not win?

This is of The Audible Doctor’s forthcoming EP, The Summer Tape.  I know we will all like it.

Single You Out: Don Streat x S.O.N. – Jewels (Remix) (prod. by Keno Beats)

I am bored with the music being concocted over the course of the last couple of weeks at least in terms of the singles dropping.  It’s just the same mundane material.  But leave it to Keno Beats to wake me up out of the funk with Jewels Remix which will be featured on his collaborative album with Don Streat, Bare My Soul.  I’ve always liked Don Streat.  I just wish I could get a full length project from him.  Looks like I might get my wish…

Soul Khan – Rusted Ghosts (ft. Arthur Lewis) (Official Video)

This song is for anybody that appreciate the art and symbolism of tattooing.  Soul Khan shares with you the story as to how he first got a tattoo.  He remembers the lists of things his mother said against it and then the meaning these pieces hold for him now.  It’s a smooth and meaningful joint.

Today he offers his latest EP, Psalm, on iTunes.  It’s redone in some capacity though I haven’t had the time to compare the versions.  Check it out.

Single You Out: Uncle Sam – Stay Grounded

staygrounded

I first featured Uncle Sam about a year ago.  I thought he showed enormous upside and had the great foundation for a career in music.   I felt he just needed a bit more polish.  He sent me his mixtape soon after and I thought that the OG tracks that were on there were innovative and dope, but I kinda left him hanging without giving him my feedback.  (I am a well intentioned jackass sometimes.)  But here he is a year later with more polish and a dope beat that I am excited to share with you.  The beat is courtesy of Motion Picture.

Blame One & J57 – They Don’t Know (ft. Akie Bermiss)

Beautiful music.  What can I say that the music isn’t already preaching (no pun intended)?  J57 shows us once again that he is a master of his craft.  This arrangement is perfection.  Akie Bermiss lends a chorus that just takes you on a trip in between Blame One’s bars.  And speaking of those bars:  Blame One has always spoken on spirituality and his beliefs.  If you listen to his past music you will pick up on that.   His message is one of acceptance and blessing.  It isn’t preachy…it’s human.

Walk In The Sun drops on August 27th which seems eons away. But you can preorder it now.

Single You Out: TOPE – Family Affair (ft. Grynch x Spac3man)

TOPE is back with a brand new single entitled, Family Affair featuring two of Seattle’s most celebrated MC’s Grynch and Spac3man. Produced by TOPE himself, Family Affair serves as the official first single to his new EP,  TROUBLEMAN, available July 9th. Over a classic drum break and Cheryl Lynn sample, TOPE, Grynch, and Spac3man trade bars about what they do best;  being the life of the party.  Good times all around…
