I don’t think you could get two tougher flows on the mic if you tried. Big O and Blaq Poet come out locked and loaded on this 4th Assassin self-produced track (damn…Big O flexin’ production skills) that is destined to make an appearance on Big O’s highly anticipated album, Gravel Engagement. That’s not hype either…that’s honesty. The album drops on October 22nd. I’ll be waiting.
Single You Out: Shabaam Sahdeeq – U Don’t Want None (ft General DV) (prod by Alterbeats)
Shabaam Sahdeeq is back with a song from his forthcoming project, Keepers Of The Lost Art, which unfortunately has a release date into next year. This song should get people amped for the project, and rightfully so. Alterbeats gives the song a Dragnet appeal with the horns in the background and then lets the snares simply crack. General DV (DV Alias Khrist) also laces us with the gravelly hook, which gives me a moment of nostalgia. Shabaam Sahdeeq knows how to do the rest with his raw lines and crisp delivery.
Single You Out: Serge Severe -The Bottom Line (Produced by 5th Sequence)
The Bottom Line is the recently released bonus song from Serge Severe and 5th Sequence’s EP, Boom Bap & Bars Vol. 1. It really doesn’t get any smoother than this. It falls in line with the rest of the EP. Make sure you cop the project if you have not already.
Rome Clientel – Bang Bang (Video)
The Milita and Rome Clientel team up again for the track, Bang Bang. Rome had been kind of quiet in 2013, but he’s back delivering that official boom bap that’s come to be associated with his name. He has a new project, The Empire 3: The Coronation, dropping soon. You can download this single HERE if you choose.
Single You Out: Apex Zero – A Meeting Of The Continents (ft Hasan Salaam & Iron Braydz) (prod By DJ Fortune)
I love the way DJ Fortune flipped that Dexter theme song. That’s some good work that instantly grabs the listener’s attention. Another thing that grabs me instantly is Hasan Salaam’s verse. His voice just holds you at attention so you listen carefully to each word. I have always been a fan of his work. This is all together a nice track that can be found off of Apex Zero’s next album. Reality Provoking Liberation, which debuts on October 28th.
Father Jah & D.R.U.G.S. Beats – Like U Never Seen Crystal Ballz? (Video)
This video and song are a little trippy but there’s something very addicting and appealing about it. It’s just not something you hear every day. And that dude, D.R.U.G.S. Beats is on a roll right now! I count three albums to date that he has completely produced in 2013. That’s what you call staying busy! Father Jah has a very unique style and this is just a sampling of his new album, Manuscripture of the Father as Inspired by D.R.U.G.S. (Dope Real Under Ground Sh*t)
Single You Out: Nino Bless – Rhyme Of The Year (MK Ultra)
I keep hearing that Nino Bless is young. Well if his years are young, his flow is that of a super-seasoned vet. I mean seven minutes of straight intelligent bars? Damn! His wordplay is at an elite level and I dare someone to tell me otherwise. Other artists beware, because if the son is shining brightest you might get lost in this man’s shadow! The fire production comes courtesy of SCOTTZILLA.
Single You Out: Mr. Morbid & Melph – The Death Cult
Mr. Morbid and Melph are back bringing the hardcore as the anticipation builds for their forthcoming album, Close To The End. This track is nice with an operatic background and epic production. The flows are also way above par. The Netherlands is doing it!
The Other Guys – Memories Fade (ft. yU & Substantial) (Video)
Remember that girl? C’mon…time to forget her. So says these verses from The Other Guys, Substantial, and yU. That’s sound advice from some fresh artists from the DMV. The Other Guys’ album, The Opposite Of Sex, drops on September 10th.
Meyhem Lauren – Drug Lord (ft. AG Da Coroner & Action Bronson)
Meyhem Lauren drops this video for Drug Lord, from Respect The Fly Shit. The song features guest bars from AG Da Coroner and Action Bronson. Production is done by none other that Harry Fraud. The video is extremely creative. I don’t think I’ve seen anything like it in terms of a music video.
