Apathy intermingling that traditional boom bap with Masonic mysticism. I am loving the production. from Smoke The World, and the rhyme content from Ap. The album, Connecticut Casual, drops on June 3rd. Can’t Wait.
Single You Out: Fel Sweetenberg – The Name Itself (prod. by DJ Brans)
It’s been a loooong minute since I have heard new music from Fel Sweetenberg, but I loved his last album, The Sophmore Jinx. It was one of the first albums I reviewed back in 2010. This track make it appear that he took no days off as it’s just as, if not better, than his earlier material. Some of that credit probably needs to be given to boom bap specialist, DJ Brans for lacing that beat.
Nutso & Dee Metto – Bulletproof Vocal Booth (ft. Nems, Illa Ghee & DJ JS-1) (Video)
More goodness is delivered courtesy of Nutso and Dee Metto’s collaborative project, Fluushang Metto. This cut separates the real from the fake with a lineup of tough rhyme writers and one of the best DJ’s around, DJ JS-1. It’s a thorough track…enjoy.
Single You Out: MaLLy – Hold My Tongue (ft. Slug and Rapper Hooks)
So this is MaLLy holding his tongue? Yeah. Right. This song is so ominous and dark that shivers started shaking the spine. Everyone delivers superlative bars and the production is phenomenal. This track will be found on MaLLy’s upcoming album, The Colors Of Black.
Skeezo -Hudson Valley Renegade (Video)
Skeezo continues his run of releasing tight music, this time unleashing a video single for Hudson Valley Renegade. The track has that authentic boom bap feel to it that has become the trademark of Skeezo. You can find this track off of his most recent EP, Stuck In The 90’s.
Madchild – Switched On (Video)
Madchild is taking no days off when it comes to releasing new music. A few months after releasing Lawnmower Man, the Swollen Members emcee, releases a video single for his upcoming album, Super Beast, which is due out later this year.
Single You Out: Passalacqua – Long Hair Anthem
One of my favorite duos is back at it and innovating. The first thing you will notice here is the awesome cover art. Very 70’s! The second thing you will bear witness to is the AWESOME production from Eddie Logix. The production is perfection with that killer sample in conjunction with those drums. But Passalacqua injects their own vision of perfection onto the track with clever lyricism and a chemistry that gets better and better with every release. They are incredibly versatile. I started this blog working with Mister and Blaksmith and that’s not changing any time soon.
This cut is part of a compilation CF HUSTLE: Portrait of A Gentleman and that will be dropping on March 24th. Stay Tuned!
Illuminate – Kamikaze (Video)
Anytime you can skateboard and do flips while flowing, you are going to get someone’s attention. Hence the case with Illuminate’s new video, Kamikaze. It’s an appropriate title for a track that approaches upon rapid fire delivery and reckless abandon. There’s not much in the way of conformity here. I am not going to say that this was a flawless performance. I would honestly like to hear Illuminate kick some verses without the double time, but I certainly can see the talent that abounds. We will keep our ears on this MTSU student’s future endeavors.
Single You Out: Sav Killz – CarnegieHall (ft. Frank Knight) (prod. by Sebastian Sartor)
Sav Killz collabs with Frank Knight (The Fraterinity) to rock over this Sebastian Sartor banger. I am not sure if this slated to be on a project but knowing how prolific Sav Killz has been in the past, we can bet that a project is right around the corner.
