Single You Out: Pawz One x Shanty Gallos – Seppuku

Creative Juices seems like it is back to releasing some new music and I couldn’t be happier. This is one of my favorite labels as they always seem to innovate and blend talents so very well. And IDE is back under a new monniker, Shanty Gallos. Here he produces a dark soundscape for the talented Pawz One to spit his code of honor over.

I chose morals over money, that’s the moral of the story

Look out for more from the label, and you are defnitely going to see more of Pawz One very shortly. That guy is always working!

2018: Best EPs

So here is a list of my favorite EPs from 2018.   I easily could have extended this list to 25 projects and been really comfortable about that.  However, I really wanted to showcase what I consider to be the best projects in a year where there was so much greatness to consider.  In the end, there were no votes, judges, or etcetera.  This was simply a matter of personal preference.  I hope you enjoy these projects as much as I did.

Notes:

Pawz One and Robin Da Landlord craft some substantial boom-bap flavor with their recent release of Sell Me A Dream: Flowstalgia.

But this album isn’t just about boom-bap though as much as it is about supreme execution and a cohesive union between producer and emcee.  The tandem has a formula that is simple in concept but hard for many to execute.  Robin Da Landlord concocts a classic sound with drums that always hit hard and pull no punches.  Pawz One, on the other hand,  demonstrates a really deft microphone mastery.

Pawz One & Robin Da Landlord – Sell Me A Dream (Video)

Pawz One & Robin Da Landlord lace us with the visuals for the title track to their new project which dropped last Friday.  The project is dope in it’s entirety,  and as a matter of fact I am working on a review for it, because of how much I enjoy it.

Listen to the drums Robin Da Landlord uses for the backbone of the track?  If your head is not snapping back and forth, I am not sure what to tell you.   This track is the embodiment of what hip hop should be.   And the dream here, truly is hip hop articulated in it’s purest form…and that’s what happened on their latest effort.

Single You Out: Pawz One X Robin Da Landlord – Sucker Punch

Pawz One and and Robin Da Landlord combine forces for this single, along with a new project due out in the middle of May, entitled Sell Me A Dream.   The beat from Robin Da Landlord goes hard as the drums sound like they are cracking agains the piano  and flute backdrops.  Pawz One unleashes a flurry of bars that crack the cabinets of of those who hide behind computers and spread hate.

Well, WE ain’t one of those people here…nothing but love for these artists and their music.

Pawz One – Death From Above (ft. King Magnetic) (Video)

This is one of the dopest songs from Pawz One’s F.U.C.K! album that dropped last year. It features King Magnetic and an assortment of fresh lyricism that brings death to the competition.

If you are unfamiliar with Pawz One, I think it’s time for you get up on the man’s music. This is also the perfect time to mention Magnetic has a new project dropping on March 31st, entitled, Everything Happens 4 A Reason. Be ready for that!

Pawz One – Bringing It Back (ft. Self Provoked) (Video)

Oh?  You didn’t have that neck brace handy?   Cuz you are going to need the chiropractor for this song right here.  I am a little late on this, but in truth, just in time for when Pawz One drops his album,  Face The Facts.   I know this album is going to make a statement for 2014.  There’s no question about that.  I have heard a couple of cuts from it at this point and each of those joints was certified.  In regards to this joint, producer Default, put his name in the hat for beat of the year.   This production to use the words of the incomparable C-Rayz Walz  is “dumb hot, like retarded group sex”.  Both the emcees bring their unique blend of boom bap to the microphone.  Self Provoked looks incredibly young, but his skill level beguiles his age.  Dope track.   Album drops on Tuesday.
