So here is a list of my favorite EPs from 2018. I easily could have extended this list to 25 projects and been really comfortable about that. However, I really wanted to showcase what I consider to be the best projects in a year where there was so much greatness to consider. In the end, there were no votes, judges, or etcetera. This was simply a matter of personal preference. I hope you enjoy these projects as much as I did.
Single You Out: OnlyOne – TKO
This song is lifted from the recently released project, Fuck You, from OnlyOne. The project is an unabashed, in your face, and raw hip-hop release, not meant for the faint of heart. The entire project is produced by SmokeM2D6 and he outdoes himself with this track right here. The guitar-driven joint is purposeful and the perfect platform for OnlyOne to deliver his bars.
Single You Out: Only & Ill – 97 Busta
Illmaculate and OnlyOne are about to drop another album, but what better way to prepare that road than to unleash a little “Whoo Haaaa!” in honor of the much respected Busta Rhymes who just had a birthday this week. Also, not to be forgotten is this is all executed over some special Chase Moore production.
Enjoy!
Single You Out: OnlyOne – Threat & Promise
OnlyOne rips a scathing social commentary over a six minute production from Smoke M2D6. Most of the lyricism deals with the police and their brutality in the Black Community. It’s an interesting take from a person outside the racial context but he hits everything like hammer to nail. He also does it with the typical flair that Only has become known for.
Illmaculate & OnlyOne – Only & Ill (Video)
Title cut from Illmaculate and OnlyOne’s new album, Only & Ill. These guys have been making music for quite a while and you can see that chemistry shine through on a track like this. The whole album is ill. There are so many dope tracks that will resonate with you. Chase Moore is responsible for this beat.
Illmaculate & OnlyOne – GATTACA (Official Music Video) feat. J-Rome
OnlyOne and Illmaculate are known for making great music but this cut is among the most premium. This is just some really good music period. Chase Moore continues the string of flawless production with this concoction and J-Rome blesses the hook to complete the effect. Meanwhile the two emcees drop incessantly dope lyricism that will at moment leave you a little slack jawed.
This is just a pre-emptive strike of what’s to come when they drop their album this summer, Only & Ill.
Single You Out: OnlyOne – UK to the Bridges (prod. by Chase Moore)
OnlyOne channels his inner Brit over some primo Chase Moore production.
Single You Out: OnlyOne – Caught Up In My Ways (prod. by Chase Moore)
More new music from the Sandpeople camp! OnlyOne teams up with oft collaborator Chase Moore to do a little night stalking on these emcees. It’s short but sharp…like a knife to the jugular.
Illmaculate & OnlyOne – Marathon (prod. by Chase Moore)
OnlyOne and Illmaculate are back at it and knifing through this ill production from Chase Moore. The pairing has always been one of the most formidable in hip hop and it’s great to see them bringing in 2015 the right way. OnlyOne still remains one of our favorite wordsmiths on the site and on this song you can see why…Can’t wait to hear the full project.

Note:
This is not a review of any sort. This is just ‘us’ letting ‘you’ know that this available now. Bagwell is a favorite and a mainstay on HHD and it’s only fitting for me to encourage you to go pick this up. 90% of the music coming out these days, you have heard before. There’s a lot of the same old cafeteria cooking going on in the lab these days. But when something unique comes out, we’ve got to support. Bagwell is among a very minute population of artists who consistently gives us quality of a different ilk and always makes it fresh for the fans. So make sure you cop from the Bandcamp page now and check back here later, when I will have more time to do an official review!
