Single You Out: Jered Sanders – God’s Gift.

This is bound to be one of the hidden gems of 2015.  Jered Sanders delivers lyrical genius in heavy doses with, God’s Gift.   Sanders simply is not your average run-of-the-mill emcees.  He is extremely clever with wordplay and that is evident with every song he has dropped.  The beat takes a minute to settle in, but once Analogic assembles all the components, I am hooked.

I haven’t checked the entire album yet, but I am about to.  The album is called, Daylight Saving’s Time.’s a breeze when I come off the top like a weather vain

I really want to close out 2013, but I can not do so without cranking out one more review for a very dope album.  The first thing heads will notice about the album Daes & Times is the production credits.  There are some heavyweight names creating beats for One Dae.  When listeners see names like Statik Selektah, Marco Polo, Analogic, Domingo, and M-Phazes, they are bound to pay attention.  But as the man, Mike Zoot once said “a wack rhymer can kill a raw beat”.  In this case the opposite is true: One Dae accentuates what these beatsmiths provide making this album memorable.

Silent Knight – Holla Burton (5 Year Anniversary Ed.)

Silent Knight release Holla Burton in 2008 and now he’s re-releasing the project which includes the instrumentals to the original twelve song.  Anything, SK puts out is worth listening to and this no different.  You’ve got production from !llmind, Analogic, M-Phazes, Jake One and DJ Vadim.  That’s some of the illest beatsmiths in the game.  It’s Christmas and this is a true gift.  I’ve owned it for a while, now it’s your turn to catch up!

Single You Out: Analogic – Revolution (ft. Supastition)

Elementality producer, Analogic links up with the now super-busy Supasition.  Ever since Supastition announced his return to music he has been a very busy man.  This track however is the first single off of Analogic’s forthcoming album, The Booth Shall Set You Free.  (Very catch title!)  The two have good chemistry together and Supa lyrically takes exception to politics in general and the politics of music.   Dope cut.

11 The Moon (prod. Madwreck)

These are the dayz of rot!‘, the words resonate as you begin listening to MadKem’s first album, Charles Workman.  The track (Dayz Of Rot) has a tribal, yet funky feel to it.   It starts of with what sounds like some tribal chant, then hit you off with some bongo drums, and then the finger snaps.  The track has a feel unlike any other that I have heard in 2011.   The use of vocal samples and a very organic production make this a track that you will remember.  MadKem drops lyrics that put the listener on to what brought him into the rhyme game in the first place and where he is going with it.  Everything about this track is exceptional.  Madwreck definitely deserves props for his work behind the boards on this joint.

MadKem has an album dropping in September and this mixtape is to serve as a precursor to that album.  It is a compilation of older material and compilations MadKem has appeared on.  I am familiar with MadKem from his appearances on all of those Elementality/DJ KO EPs that were produced last year.  I liked those a lot.  I also am a big fan of Silent Knight, and as you can see, he is all over this mixtape.  So  I expected this mixtape to be pretty dope.  But to put it plainly, this really exceeded my expectations.

MadKem is a lot iller than I gave him credit for.  He has a great mic presence and his lyricism is very clever throughout.  So now I find myself fiending for this new album next month.

You absolutely have to give this mixtape and download and listen.  It’s imperative.  This is one of those moments you can have as a listener where you can enjoy a release from start to finish and come away with an appreciation for an artist you may not be familiar with.
