Another banger to be added to the credentials of French producer, Alterbeats! This beat is lethal with these banging keys. I am not all that familiar with Innocent? (though I am sure I Have featured him on here before) but I like his voice a lot and it flows very smooth over this production. His content also involves relevant and real subject matter.
Neek The Exotic – Dream Catcher (ft. Mic Handz & Satchel Page) (Video)
Neek The Exotic is going to be dropping his new album, Hustle Don’t Stop, on August 20th. I probably would have let this pass me by if Alterbeats, the track’s producer, didn’t shoot me a link on Twitter to check it out. It’s really a dope piece of work. The production is a creeper with it’s combination of dusty horns and eerie horror music vibe. All the emcees bring something nice to the mic, and more importantly use the term “ratchet” as it was originally referred to back in the day. The video direction is also done well. I like how the lighting remains dark as the camera approaches each emcee during their verse. I am going to get my ears peeled for this upcoming project.
Single You Out: Satchel Page – Fine Wine (ft Neek The Exotic & Mic Handz) (prod. by Alterbeats)
Satchel Page brings in Neek The Exotic and Mic Handz to collaborate on the mic while the break out the wine press for some ‘fine wine’. The beat comes courtesy of French beat maker, Alterbeats. This production is much more smoothed out then I am used to hearing from Alterbeats. I like it. It’s very easy on the ears.
Innocent? – Time For Change (ft. Roc Marciano x DJ Modesty) (prod. by Alterbeats)
A few things caught my eye when I got this press release: 1) Roc Marciano 2) DJ Modesty 3) Alterbeats
I am familiar with all three of those artists and thought, if all of this talent is working along side Innocent? for sure he has to have some skills and assuredly he does. This track definitely has that NY/East Coast appeal. Alterbeats, if you are not familiar, is a French producer we have featured here a number of times and he specializes in that grimy, boom-bap flavor.
Innocent? has a new album dropping in the third quarter of 2013 entitled Love It Or Hate It which is chocked full of dope artists.
Artist Spotlight: Skeezo
Last year was when I first became acquainted with Skeezo’s music. My initial feeling was that this guy was bringing back that NYC hardcore rhyming that groups like Mobb Deep and MOP made prevalent back in the 1990s. The dude’s lyrics hit like a hammer and he is unafraid to spit those street mentality rhymes in a world that more appreciates the candy coated genre.
Last year he and I briefly touched on a showcase on HHD for his talents and with his album, Face Value looming next month, we felt it was the perfect opportunity for new fans to get to know that man behind the music.
So peep this interview and make sure you cop his album in March. There’s some serious heat to occur.
Single You Out: Mic Handz – In The Street Again
This joint from Mic Handz and Alterbeats is hot. A definite awakening to me. I was not familiar with Mic Handz previously and saw that Alterbeats had done this production and gave it a listen. It turns out this music is right up my alley. Definitely feeling it.
Shabaam Sahdeeq – Degrees Of Separation (2012)
Shabaam Sahdeeq is undoubtedly a busy man and to show how much work he has been putting in lately, he’s assembled Degrees Of Separation for established fans and new listeners a like to get acquainted with what he’s been up to lately. Degrees Of Separation includes a lot of the dope singles we have featured on HHD this year, a lot of guest shots that he’s been on, and some newer tracks I hadn’t heard yet.
As for my favorites? I am glad you asked. It’s got the Harry Fraud produced Futuristic which is one of my favorites not only of Sahdeeq but by any artist this year. I am also partial to the Lewis Parker produced Walking On A Razor. I am sure that you will appreciate the talent the man brings to the table after listening to the project and find a few favorites of your own.

Single You Out: Skeezo – Bad Guy Pt 2 (ft. Shabaam Sahdeeq x Kaymerda x Ruste Juxx)
Skeezo releases this Alterbeats produced joint to bang in your system. Joining him behind the mic, along with Kaymerda, are two of the busiest emcees this year…Shabaam Sahdeeq and Ruste Juxx. Those two guys have been cranking out hits in abundance this year.
In the end, this joint is a banger…so stay on the ready for new material from Skeezo.
Single You Out: Alterbeats – Alter Ego (ft. Sadat X, A.G., and Lion of Bordeaux)
This is the second single from Alterbeats forthcoming album, The French Revolution. That project is dropping on June 26th. Sadat X and AG rep on Alter Ego and sound impeccable. I love the sound of the horn throughout the track. It has that dusty-jazz appeal, though still remaining gritty. I can’t wait for this project to drop. It’s going to be a banger!
Single You Out: Alterbeats – TV Screen (ft. Chief Kamachi, Kromeatose, and Block McCloud)
First single off of the French producer’s, The French Revolution, which drops later this month. He enlists some dope emcees fot this joint. If this is any indication of what the entire album is going to sound like, we are all in for a treat.
