K.A.A.N and Locksmith on a track together is like a dream come true. These two really embody lyricism as an art in the truest sense. These guys sound natural together and they are two of a very small number of artists who can switch cadences so effortlessly. And here they collectively express that their gifts are indeed unique and surpass the norm that is set. Love this joint, Ramp Up, through and through. Decap and Artic Beats provide the high powered production.
Recognize Ali – Soul Grit (Video)
Recognize Ali continues to mesh his talent with a relentless work ethic. As he prepares his latest offering, Underground King II, he his us with the soulfully laced single, Soul Grit. Unfortunately, I can’t tell you who produced it as it’s a bonus track from the album with no listed credits, but it goes heavy with the horns, as Ali stake his clame to being one of the best to currently do it!
The new album drops on November 5th which isn’t too far at all. Stay informed!
Rigz – Grateful (Video) (prod by Plazbo)
When they say “the song cries”…this might be case in point as to what that means. Plazbo laces a melancholy and soulful joint for Rigz to explain his story, and be Grateful to all who are able to listen to it.
Super talented emcee who is grinding relentless. Again…does it need to be said again…Da Cloth.
Mooch (Da Cloth) – Hit The Deck (Video) (Prod. (Farma)
You already know that if Mooch has some new music out, it’s going to get a proper write up here. And now he’s got Farmabeats back for a Heroin Farms 2 project on the way?! This just made my day. These two make some really dope art. The first project gets played all the time. And they are picking right up where they left off with their lead single, Hit The Deck.
Now is the time of Da Cloth. No getting around it.
Lateb x L.O.B. – The Heat (Video)
Lateb needs some recognition for his album, Undone, with producer, L.O.B. This is the perfect opportunity. And while this is not my favorite track from the album (that accolade goes to the track Grey Sunshine), this is certainly a hot one. Some artists, shouldn’t do their own choruses, but Lateb has the talent and skill to do that effectively, which really enhances the vibe of the song. He does that on several tracks on the album, and gives the project a rich, yet haunting dimension. Check it!
Krum – Halo (Video)
Did I know that Krum and Playdough are the same person? Did I realize and forget? No matter. He was dope before, and he’s just as dope now, dropping great music with great messages. I love the production, the lyrics, and the power behind the track. Really dope cut.
He’s got a new album, DART, dropping on October 26th. I would check for that.
Single You Out: Recognize Ali – Godly Men (ft. Vinnie Paz & Ill Bill)
Recognize Ali is staying busy with yet another release on it’s way, Underground King II. And while that does not have an official release date as of yet, we do get the frist single, Godly Men, featuring Vinnie Paz and Ill Bill, produced by Sultan Mir.
And when ever Rec Ali puts his pen to work you know you are going to get a high quality music. This is certainly no different, only made moreso working alongside these legends.
Single You Out: G Fam Black x P-Ro – Don’t Try Us (ft. Skanks The Rap Martyr)
Man, this track is EXTREMELY flammable. First and foremost, P-Ro, laced a banger! I love how he uses that vocal sample in conjunction with the piano. It gives the track this dark and ominous vibe.
Secondly, I am going to say this for the hundreth time: Skanks is one of the sharpest lyricists in the game. This is the second verse I have heard from him this week where I thought it was one of the top this year. G Fam Black also delivers a barrage of dope lyricism that proves unhealthy for the competition. The trio of artists make this one count to the ears of the fans.
The project, DRAW, is dropping in a couple of days on the 28th of this month so make sure you check for that.
Dark Lo & Havoc – Mob Tales (Video)
Dark Lo and Havoc team up for the new project, Extreme Measures, which is in digital stores everywhere. On the track, Mob Tales, you also get Havoc spitting on the mic (in addition to producing) which is both a privilege and a rarity. The sound here is both gutter and glorious as this proves a perfect pairing.
Marlon Craft – OH LORD (Video)
Marlon Craft drops another video single for his just released project, Homecourt Advantage Vol. 1. This track is a short one, but has some serious spice to it, as Craft spits it salty on all the naysayers over a hype beat from HaqqMav. Really a dope track, as he continues to accelerate with the momentum built in 2021.
