This is a quick hitter from MarQ Spekt’s latest album, The Grilchy Era. It’s a dope cut that you simply don’t want to end but it does ever so quickly. Deacon The Villain from Cunninlynguists drops the vocals for the chorus. Check the album if you haven’t already. It’s worth more than just a few spins.
Hex One & 5th Element – Dinner Time (ft. Ruste Juxx & Halfcut) (Video)
This is a top notch joint from Hex One & 5th Element’s album, Hologramz. This joint is some vintage hard bodied hip hop right here. Hex One and Halfcut each wield super crafty lines that keep the listener on pins and needles, only to be contrasted with Ruste Juxx’s Brooklyn braggadiocio style. You know bodies get strewn about when he spits on the mic.
Great song from a great album that you should already own!
Sketch McGuiney – Knuckleheads (ft. Cuban Link and K-Beta) (Video)
Sketch McGuiney and company put that hipster rap to bed with this joint from his forthcoming mixtape, Handlebars. We showcased the actual single for Knuckleheads a couple of weeks ago, and now the track gets the video treatment. It’s one of the hardest hitting joints of 2015, bet!
William Cooper- Zombieland (feat. Diabolic) (Video)
We just recently reviewed William Cooper’s album, God’s Will. So we have no doubt that you will enjoy the video single for the track, Zombieland. On first glance you might think this was a video for the Walking Dead, however you soon realize as Diabolic and Cooper spit that the Zombies are analogy for the sheep that we have become in the eyes of the powerful and the government. Don’t sleep!
Nutso – Str8 Talk (ft. General Steele x Blacastan) (Video)
This is the final video from Nutso’s, Divided Souls EP. And he ends things with a true heater from the project repping that “true” NYC sound. General Steele and Blacastan each lend some rough sixteens to the record while the beat will have you swaying the neck. This is one of those tracks that reaffirm hip hop is in good hands.
Check that EP!
CF – Extra (Video)
The intellectual capacity of CF as an artist is far beyond the industry standard. Whenever you listen to a CF verse you are bound to pick up some tid-bit of knowledge you didn’t know before. On the cut, Extra, from the album Ascension, he references things like the Minutemen being the latest rendition of the KKK and the need for stronger leadership in the latin community, nuancing Che Guevara. It also helps that he is loaded on skill and talent. One of our favorites!
Single You Out: The Fraternity – Suicide Squad
This news should excite anyone who has been following our blog over the last couple of years: The Fraternity will have a collaborative project dropping at some point this year. This track is a posse cut that features, Sleep, Scriptz, Jus Ra, Loose Logic, Frank Knight, Xavier Medina, and produced by The Gonz.
The Fraternity features so many unique styles that just blends so well together over this banger. I don’t think we will find any different when the entire project drops. So nod your ahead in a appreciation for this track at the moment and I will let you know when we can expect to see the entire project.
King Magnetic – Tuff Guy (Video)
Tuff Guy is the lead single off the newly released album, Timing Is Everything. King Magnetic is one of those artists that has been putting in consistent work for the longest time. His mixtapes and the Everything Is A Gamble series has put out more bangers than most other people’s entire discography. His projects can play from start to end and while I just copped the new album, Timing Is Everything will be no different in that capacity.
Tuff Guy is just a prime example of what this artist is capable of. He flips over a banger, describing himself as not a tough guy, but capable of being really menacing if push ever came to shove. And he calls out all those who are tough when in the company of others, but really pussy when it comes to handling business by yourself.
This is one album that everybody needs to support this year. You have to reward an artist who has been consistent as he has over the years. Let’s back him up!
Single You Out: Slide Dillinger – Silver Bullet
I have never featured Slide Dillinger before, but his first moment on our pages is a memorable one. Dillinger obliterates this banger with some rapid fire lyricism proving that skill and ability is not exclusive to the same ol’, same ol’. This is really a breath of fresh air for me. You can hear a tenacity that simply isn’t present in a lot of emcees these days. He’ll have a new project dropping this year entitled The Wake. I can only hope this one track is representative of what this album is going to be like.
Shout out to DJ Booth for scoping new talent!
Single You Out: Shaz Illyork – Ransack Pavilions
Now that Shaz Illyork is out the bing, he’s back doing what he does best: Making dope music. Qred is the producer responsible for the production which features a twanging guitar. Illyork delivers the roughness with both lyricism and delivery. I know that we will be getting a new project soon, so stay tuned.
