This is my favorite cut from Your Old Droog’s album, PACKS, which dropped earlier this year. I am a sucker for that ME and Indian vibe in the instrumentation. Droog and Heems definitely drop it heavy. I particularly like Heem’s animated flow…definitely has character.
VerbzBeats x Depoli – Mind Over Matter (ft. Martin Salazar)
Can I put you guys onto something dope? I waited for a minute to check this album because I had a lot on my plate, but VerbzBeats and Deploi’s project, The Fever, is thorough from start to finish. The San Diego producer and LA based emcee have a really good sound going on here that I think people are really going to enjoy it once the word gets moving a little more.
I encourage you guys to spread the word on this one, don’t let it go unnoticed. It really is too good to be slept on. I chose this smooth track featuring Martin Salazar because it typifies the sounds from the project and will definitely get stuck in your head!
Single You Out: Natural Elements – DroNes
Please drop some more music Natural Elements! We need more than just these teasers. Anthony Cruz, Swigga, and Agu still can drop illness with the likes of sickest emcees. We need some more of these kind of songs and a true LP to drop soon because these artists are simply too talented to drop this sporadic. Please gentlemen…put the hip hop world on notice…
Single You Out: Apathy and O.C. – Soviet Official
This is the first single from the upcoming Apathy and O.C.’s forthcoming album, Perestroika which is due out next month. That’s pretty exciting news. This song (debuted by DotGotIt) is really dope. I love the horns, the sample, and the beat. And Ap and O.C. seem like a natural pairing, exchanging clever bars and tight rhyme schemes.

Single You Out: Recognize Ali – Miracles (ft. Verbal Kent)
Here’s another single from Recognize Ali’s forthcoming album, Allah’s Favorite, featuring Chicago emcee Verbal Kent and the result is ill. Eyedee laces a stripped down production, yet one that certainly bangs. That production is escorted by scratches implanted by DJ TMB. Kent and Ali prove to be an imposing force on this track. I have high hopes and expectations for this project.
Whatson – The Cycle (ft. Nutso x Robb P x M-Dot) (Video)
Oh man a couple of my favorite emcees, Nutso and M-Dot link up over this KNOCKIN’ beat from Whatson. This production is off the Richter Scale. The drums hit with intensity and the samples are so on point they could draw blood. All of the emcees drop some true verbal insanity. The one emcee I was not super familiar with, Robb P, really impresses when rocking alongside accomplished emcees. There are lots of quotables to be had in under three minutes!
The Cycle is a single off of Whatson’s, album which has yet to receive a title but is guaranteed to smack.
IDE – Nirvana (Video)
IDE’s album, Breathe Easy, is a stalwart from 2016, and Nirvana is an acid trip from that album in the form of a video single. The music from Lucky Loopiano and Kelly Finnigan is trippy and abstract while IDE serves as the wordplay wizard.
I know I have mentioned this before, but I am going to make mention of it again. IDE’s flow and wordplay have become more and more advanced with every release and heads are starting to take notice.
I hope to hear more from Creative Juices soon.
Original Text – Knot Rap (Video)
I just happened to be wandering by Original Text’s Twitter page and picked up on this video that was released four months ago. Original Text is comprised of Ari Why and Tito Fuerte and let me tell you, the music they put out is incredibly ill. The production from Ari Why is sophisticated, intoxicating, and knocks incredibly hard. Tito Fuerte, flips a stream of dope lines together with varying cadences that meld with the music.
The EP, Double Scale, was said to only be available on cassette, but my sources say the digital is dropping next Friday. There are also a couple other songs from the project we will be sharing in the coming days.
Finale x Fel Sweetenberg – Six Stringed Puppets (Video)
If you haven’t heard, Finale and Fel Sweetenberg have a new album out called, Two Kings. And if you aren’t down with this sickness, then I don’t want your kind of immunity. The beat by Sweetenberg is just way to ill and both emcees have an insane about of bars in this piece. And did you hear Finale drop that Oscar Pistorious line?
This album is one of the best this year…bet.
Single You Out: Dillon & Diamond D – Feast
If you see Diamond D’s name on anything these day, heads pay attention, and as well they should. Especially on this track, when Dillon is rhyming. Dillon could be heard on the insanely slept on 2016 project, Food Chain. He has all of the intangibles that you look for in an emcee, and with DITC backing, he is sure to gain a little more well-deserved recognition. This is a pretty mellow single off of the forthcoming collaboration, Black Tie Affair, due out on September 8th.
