Single You Out: Slicenberg – Pros And CONS (ft. Revelation)

New jawn from the EMS camp!  Slicenberg invites Revalation to drop some bars across his latest creation, Pros & CONS.  The twinge of the guitar in the production gives it a taste of the blues while wrapped around the boom-bap drums.  Meanwhile, Rev truly drops some tough bars at one point making it Biblical referencing Old Testament kingpin Hezekiah.

This joint is destined for Slicenberg (Soulslicers) new project, Keep It Sample.

Single You Out: Mayhem & The Soulslicers – Patriots (ft. Edo G, M-Dot & Big Shug) (Prod. The Soulslicers)

This is the second single from Mayhem and The Soulslicers collaborative album, Soul It May Seem.  I do have to say that I am not a Patriots fan of any sort but I will support these guys for the duration.  Patriots is a tribute to Boston and sports team.  It also showcases the gang’s creativity with M-Dot, Edo G, and Mayhem all taking on a color of the franchise to show their support.  Big Shug lends his talents and skills to doing the hook.  Very creative material.

Single You Out: Silent Knight – Walking

Now this is a good comination:   The Audible Doctor and Silent Knight have proved unbelievable chemistry.  You can reference their number one track about four years back, Stayin’ Busy.  The Audible Doctor fires up the boom bap, the organ, and the proper intermingling of a soulful, almost sorrowful, vocal sample.   There’s also just something about the way Silent Knight relates is life and ideas that just resonates with me.  He’s trying to make money along with making art.  This song is going to stick with me for a while.

His new project, Weaknd, is due out soon.

Worth Revisiting: ILL BILL – My Uncle (Video) (2008)

It’s really hard to believe this video dropped seven years ago.   Time is just flying by me for sure.   When this video dropped, I was truly impressed with artistic animation mixed with Ill Bill’s very personal song about Uncle Howie.  The two just blended together seamlessly giving the listener/viewer a true sense of how someone can caught up in the streets and the vices there in.

The album this song is lifted off is called The Hour Of Reprisal.

Ric Flo – Do It (Video)

I was not sure who Ric Flo was before I listened to this track, but after the listening I can say that he is a forth to be reckoned with.   I mean this flow is quite simply one of the best I have heard…ever…period.  His delivery is crisp.  His mind is clever.  His writing is something serious. I can’t wait to see if he can maintain this high standard of music through a whole project.  I hope to hear some more soon, because he is super impressive.

Also,  the video is creative and entertaining.  I hope you guys agree.

Note:

Hip Hop Dependency is proud to be a supporter of UllNevaNo and his latest project under the ‘Color’ series flag, I WONDER What Color Ima Use Next.   If obvious signs elude you, the title refers to UllNevaNo flowing over Jamla’s front man,  9th Wonder’s beats.

If you are not familiar with UllNevaNo’s lyrical dexterity, two things become apparent:  1)  You don’t check Hip Hop Dependency very often 2) His latest project is a great opportunity for you to make up for lost time.  The man has been repping the B-More scene for more than just a few years, and is a hip hop staple there.  But his name is starting to buzz on more of a global scale much in part to the ‘Color Series’.  So don’t front or delay, stream or download the latest project, or simply get left behind.
