Duncecap – Social Drinker (ft. Lt Headtrip) (prod. by Kon Hathaway) (Video)

Sorry my posting has lapsed.  It probably won’t pick back up until later this month when I am fully settled in at the new crib, but I did want to share this new video from Duncecap off of his new EP, Generally Sad Songs.  This song is a slap in the face or a pat on the back depending on your perspective to all the “social” drinkers out there.  Regardless of the perspective is the fact that this is good music.  I like the mingling of depravity and playfulness of the track.  I hope to listen to the entire EP soon.

El Gant – Bases Loaded (ft. Infinity Gauntlet) (Video)

I just reviewed El Gant’s Beast Academy last week.  It’s an album that has some incredible bars, and this joint is no exception.  This time he brings in the Infinity Gauntlet camp for a little game of baseball.    Except the only thing these listeners are going to catch are some hot lines.  I am really hoping for an Infinity Gauntlet album soon because whenever these guys get on the mic, wonderful madness ensues.

The 17th – Hold My Own (ft. Livin Proof, Cortez, and Gwalla Gang) (Video)

These are the kind of joints that make the universe just right.   The 17th is an elite emcee.   His wordplay is just extraordinary.   But things get a little grimier on deck when homies Livin Proof and Cortez jump on the track.    These barbarian bars are liable to leave a wake of destruction in their path.

Inside Jokes With Complete Strangers should be front in center on your radar when it drops later this summer.

Blueprint – Perspective (Video)

Blueprint is an extremely well-informed and talented emcee.   This is a great track that gives you insight into other things that are going on in the world that may make you own circumstances pale in comparison.  He’s not trying to diminish feelings, but merely give you you, well,…perspective.   The track is soulful, meaningful, and enlightening.

Check out his album, Respect The Architect.

Single You Out: Don Streat – Pistol Grip (ft. Sullee J & Lord Baltimore DDS)

Oh…so Brooklyn represented earlier but not to be outdone are these B-More boys!  Don Streat, Sullee J, and Lord Baltimore DDS slaughter this production from D.R.U.G.S. Beats.  I was really captivated by the bars from Sullee J.  He was spitting with a rapid fire and intense delivery.  It got me amped just sitting here.   I am not sure if this song is off of any project in particular but it certainly belongs in your collection!

Raf Almighty – Slumz (ft. Snook Da Crook and Wyld Bunch) (Video)

What do you know about the slumz?  Not a thing.  Not a thing.   But Raf Almighty and his compatriots, Snook and Wyld Bunch, are familiar with those surroundings and they break out the pain brushes and give you the picture with this cut.  And having Brans on the boards is like a the seal of approval for freshness.

If you haven’t checked out Raf’s new album, G.T.F.O.M.Y., you should get on checking it.  A lot of people giving it top consideration for one of the best albums this years.  Heads recognize…

Goldini Bagwell – Desire Is… (Video)

I am just going to go ahead and say it as I see it: Every year Goldini Bagwell drops an album, you are guaranteed to get a Top Ten track for the year from the project, and this one very well might be that joint for 2014.  Bagwell is just the type of artist whose flow sometimes just defies description.   It’s mesmerizing at times.  It’s even moreso on this joint because the beat and the vocals are simply hypnotic leaving me the listener entrances by the song.  The video is produced by cohort Sapient and he did an excellent job with the visuals and transitions.

The album drops next week so…take that!
