This is the second video from Quadir Lateef that we have featured this year and both of them have demonstrated next level lyricism and banging production. It is my feeling, that Lateef is on the verge of something huge. I just have the sense that his name could be one that you echo in concert with some of hip hop’s greats. He has that kind of talent.
Outpatient – Animal Crackers (Video)
Yeah. Let me put you on to some dope music from this emcee, Outpatient. I was a bit incredulous at first glance but was quickly relieved of my doubts when this guy began to spit. I can’t say that his voice is very distinctive, but that flow is very memorable. He packs an incredible lyrical punch. His entire album is really dope with top notch production, so check out Ascended Basterd now.
Oak Lonetree – Spiffy (Video)
Here’s an interesting track from Oak Lonetree. Spiffy sounds like one of this bare-bones jazz joints but with superlative lyricism. The production is actually handled by Mister Jason which really makes sense when considering it’s uniqueness. I am really feeling what they did here. It’s different and in a good way. It’s also pretty addictive. I am not sure if I’ve heard something in this vein before. Really solid work. In this day and age it becomes harder and harder to innovate.
I have on my radar to check out Lonetree’s new album, Bully Mammoth, which just dropped yesterday. I hope it’s as illy as this single.
Big Block Silvers – Crime in the City (Video)
You want to know what the best EP of the year is thus far? Look no further than the project, Bold, from Blame One, Harry Apollo, and JonJ, also known as Big Block Silvers. This is some of the most beautiful hip hop I have heard as of late. There are six tracks, all of which are incredibly impressive. You can hear the amalgamation of dope on this track, Crime in the City, where boom bap, sound, and lyricism collide. You can not help but be impressed here. Cop this project. It is worth every penny.
Kaimbr – Kragenoff (ft. Kev Brown) (Video)
It’s been a minute since I have hard some new from Kaimbr, and whenever I do hear something, it’s always impressive. He actually crafted one of my favorite releases of all time, The Alexander Green Project. When he and Kev Brown get together, magic just seems to happen. This soulful joint is lifted off the forthcoming project, Share The Shelter.
G.S. ADVANCE – CounterClockwise (Video)
I am really loving this cascading beat from producer, Sharp Grizwold. It has kind of a “beach” vibe that melds perfectly with the boom bap flavor that G.S. Advance is putting to record. Really dope material that his hopefully a precursor to more when his EP, Absinthe, drops.
Born Unique – Saturday Night Special (Video)
This is some hard material off of Born Unique and Lucky Loopiano’s album, The Red Devil Chronicles. Just like this cut, the album is chocked full of raw rhymes, banging beats, and precise cuts. Unique and Loopiano really put together a sensational album, and you def need to check it.
Pearl Gates & Syll – Symphonic (Video)
This song from Pearl Gates & Syll is dope, which also can be said for their entire EP, Play This. I really enjoy this project. There is Camp Lo type quality to these guys. It’s simply bringing the ‘cool’ back to music.
You need to check this out.
Pull The Fuckin’ Trigger – Night Vision (Video)
Man, talk about heat rocks! The NSD camp drops a video single for the new group, Pull The Fuckin’ Trigger. The team is comprised of DJ Bless, Donnie Darko, and Appollo Valdez and they are coming for heads with this new joint. I love it when Bless and Darko do their thing, and Valdez adds a new type of delivery to round out the squad.
I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to hear more.
Bankai Fam – Seen A Few Things (Video)
The talented team known as the Bankai Fam go over a few things that they have seen in the streets with their latest video single, Seen A Few Things. The fam never puts out anything close to weak, and these are some bars you are going to feel.
Check out the album, Civil War, which is out now!
