Fortunato is an artist that I hadn’t featured here before but after watching this video I feel he is a natural fit for our line up. He’s got a nice delivery and the beat is on point. This video single is lifted from his forthcoming album (can’t find it online so I am guessing it’s not out yet), Unseen Armada. Be on the lookout for that.
Lafayette Stokely – Scared of Death (Video)
As he is prone to do, Dharmic X (follow him), sent me over some new “good” music to listen to. It’s an interesting concept in how death is interpreted here. This is artistically on point. If you want to delve further into Lafayette Stokely’s catalog, you can do so by checking out his album, Life’s Journey.
Locksmith – Fleming Street (Video)
The truth is that no one can strike a chord with his or her music like Locksmith can. He makes you feel his angst, anger, pride, and disappointments with every bar. This is my favorite cut from his latest album, The Green Box. It expresses raw emotion and it’s hard to beat that on any given day.
Nutso & DJ Low Cut – Shut’Em Down (Video)
You support who you want to support, but as for me, I back individuals like Nutso and DJ Low Cut. They have a new project dropping on June 3rd entitled, In The Cut. They’ve individually have brought you nothing but the best in boom bap hip hop, so would you expect any different when they team up?
Poe Mack – Tragedy or Triumph (prod. by D.R.U.G.S. Beats) (Video)
Latest video from Poe Mack and D.R.U.G.S. Beats’ collaborative album, Poe Mack On D.R.U.G.S. Poe Mack is thinner and lighter and his projects sell faster than flameless candles. (You’ll either get it or you won’t.)
Kyle Hubbard- Even Though It Shines (Video)
Kyle Hubbard is that dude in Texas right now. The hopes of my state ride, in part, on this man’s back. He constantly puts out quality music that people can relate to and does it in the freshest ways possible. This cut is off of his highly acclaimed album, You’re Not That Special which dropped in early 2013.
..a blog is not a God, no matter how they frame it…
Trek Life – Just The Music (Video)
You are now in tune to the smooth vibes of Trek Life and Duke Westlake. This joint makes me feel good. It’s got a great vibe with lyrics that any hip hop fan would relate to. The video single is coming of the collaborative EP, Hometown Foreigner.
Demigodz – Raiders Cap (Video)
“Old school…got my Raider’s cap…” That’s the anthem on this cut from the Demigodz impressive KILLmatic album. We’ve talked about it before in the album review, but this track is produced by Apathy, and he did a hella of a job on this joint. The video is also a little old school that features a cameo from Xzibit. Cop this album if you have not already and peep the review.
Alpha Faktion -Truth,Lies & Audiotape (Video)
Gimme some more of that good old fashioned boom bap, fellas! This reminds me of some older Nonphixion material and that’s a good thing. It has those raw rhymes and beat with those political overtones. I am definitely feeling the music coming from Alpha Faktion. Their EP dropping under the same name as this song is dropping on May 21st and you are going to want to catch that.
