Single You Out: Rook & Menace – Sly Stone

Here’s something new that I am really loving. The back and forth wordplay between Rook & Menace is not necessarily unique but it was done exceptionally well. The lyricism is on point as is the production. I am going to have to look these guys up to find out more about them. Because if their material is as good as this…we have another artist to look forward to seeing submissions from.

Single You Out: Intalek x EOM – My Shai Interlude

Man, I could not resist posting this. I love how Intalek and EOM chopped up this track. They take a 90s classic R&B cut, and make the joint slam! EOM’s rendering is nothing short of phenomenal. Intalek’s flow is impressively sophisticated as bobs and weaves his way around the track.

They have this, The LA. VA. EP out that I think is really going to impress folks. I strongly encourage you to give it a listen.

Single You Out: Estee Nack – Snake Charmer, Mad Marauder (prod. by Mr. Rose) (ft. Recognize Ali)

Mr. Rose laces a dusty, yet jazzy joint for Estee Nack and Recognize Ali to spit on. It’s a laid that back track that also grabs you by the throat if that makes sense. Heavy on bars, yet easy on the ears.

You can find this track on Estee Nack’s new project, #Minimansiondust…. Unfortunately it is only available for streaming now and not for purchase. I hope that changes soon.

Single You Out: Recognize Ali – Gold Pen Assassin (Prod. by Giallo Point)

Single from Recognize Ali and producer Giallo Point. This is a dope cut. I love the strings Point uses for his production, but that should come as no surprise. His stock has been on the rise over the course of the last couple of years. He is steadily delivering bangers. And when we talk about consistency, you have to give Ali props. Everything he has put out in the last coupe of years has been strong.

New album, Back 2 Mecca, is in the works and I hope we will have it sooner rather than later.

Single You Out: Endemic Emerald & Skanks – Straight out da NYC (ft. Rim and Shatike)

This is another single from Endemic Emerald and Skanks’ forthcoming album, Rapsploitation. I love the static and pop in the production with that lingering piano loop from Endemic. Skanks adds the perfect verbal punch needed to the track. And of course dopeness loves company, so Rim and Shatike, also show capable of serving up some certified illness.

The album is due out on May 30th.

Single You Out: The Aztext – Good Weather

New music from The Aztext? Yes, sir! I don’t think they have dropped anything since their album Four, and it’s really good to hear the Burlington duo again rock the mic.

Good Weather is a very laid back which is easy on the ears. Sometimes we need to take time to relax and stop checking our watches. It will all pass us by soon enough.

On the second half of the single we have Pass The Mic, which is a more traditional hip hop joint. You can envision the emcees gathered in a circle and trading verses over a beatbox.

Let’s hope a new project is in the works!
