I saw a few singles dropped yesterday but not too many that I would mention. This is one of the exceptions. I had heard this joint on another compilation and thought it was tight when I heard it then. It still is. Illmaculate’s Skrill Walton EP drops on November 8th.
Single You Out: M.O.P. & The Snowgoons – Get Yours
M.O.P. and The Snowgoons are the perfect match to do an album together. Lil Fame and Billy Danze’s style works perfectly with the prodction coming from this team in Germany. This album has alot of potential but don’t just take it from me…
Laelo Hood – Trading Places (Video)
I am sorry it took me almost a month to realize that this is a great song and video. Laelo Hood is a very talented emcee out of the DMV and someone whose name you should be remembering. If you haven’t checked his recent album, Fuck The World, please do so now.
Tug McRaw – Once Upon A Crime (ft. L Perfex) (Video)
I am surprised more people aren’t up on Tug McRaw. He has a dope flow and voice. I have a couple of his albums/mixtapes. This cut is off his latest album/mixtape, Language Arts Volume 3. That’s good music there. Check it out.
Jedi Mind Tricks – When Crows Descend Upon You (ft. Demoz) (Video)
More than a video, this is like a mini-movie. Really dope all the way around. Jedi Mind Tricks new album, Violence Begets Violence is in stores in four days, October 25th.
Locksmith – Devil’s Lasso (prod. by Ski Beatz)
Another dope joint given the visual treatment from the Embedded project which is dropping November 15th. This is going to be a must cop project this year. The more I hear from Locksmith, the more I believe his name needs to be mentioned along with game’s illest emcees. I mean this guy is just nasty with his flow and wordplay.
City Slickers – Phenomenal (Video)
Admittedly I am not up on the City Slickers. I found this moving through the web on some Bostonian hip hop sites and I thought I would share my find. They have good wordplay and the production was interesting. Apparently they have a reworking of a previous mixtape entitled, Still Smoking Cigarettes & Tellin Lies, dropping on the already crowded October 25th.
Rasheed Chappell – Stay Sharp (Video)
One of my worst sins this year was sleeping on Rasheed Chappell and his album, Future Before Nostalgia. I knew he was dope, yet I kept on putting off copping this album. I finally gave it a listen and was blown away with his lyrical prowess. The intellect and talent behind this release hasn’t been duplicated. He packs a lot of knowledge in a few bars.
