Single You Out: Hasan Salaam – 1911

I am pretty sure I own all of Hasan Salaam’s discography.  I have been following his career for a while now and he remains an artist who not only is lyrically gifted but can also convey meaning and power in his rhymes.  His new album, Music Is My Weapon, is slated to drop on 12/06/2011.  All the proceeds from this album’s sales will be donated to the It Takes A Village Foundation.  You can’t get anymore high-minded than that.  Props!

Single You Out: J57 – The Main Event (ft. Actions Bronson, Meyhem Lauren, Maffew Ragazino, and Rasheed Chappell)

This list of emcees is the “in-list” right now.  I mean these guys are all very sought after guest shots right now.  This is that ‘classic’ type of posse cut right here.  The beat is titillating but not overbearing with the keys.   This is the first single  off of J57’s forthcoming EP, 2057.  You know we will be watching out for that!

Note:

An artist who produces and emcees is usually great/good at one and subpar/mediocre at the other.   This could not be further from the truth with Awthentik, which is why his project, Foreclosure,  is being mentioned on HHD.  I am really impressed with his ability to write and emcee as well as his ability behind the boards.  He is accomplished at both crafts, hence this release is full of gritty bangers and above average lyricism.
