Single You Out: Jigmastas – The Resurge

It’s a great day for hip hop.  The Jigmastas are back at it again making music.   The blurb  attached to this song says it has been a ‘five year hiatus’ but it seems more like ten to me.   I will have to go back and see if I missed something.    The Jigmastas were the team in the late 1990s and early 2000s.  I fiended for those DJ Spinna beats and Kriminul rhymes.   Now I can become addicted all over again as they are going to drop and EP entitled Resurgence very soon and a full length in the fall.  I can’t wait.   So for older hip hop heads,  lets celebrate this reunion, and for the younger, get acquainted with some of the best in the business!

The Fraternity – 2014 10 Man Cypher (Prod. by Dope Antelope)

The Fraternity is 10 emcees scattered across North America who are all very dope with unique styles.  I have never heard all the members on one track before and at almost ten minutes I get to hear the complete camp over a scintillating Dope Antelope production.  I usually don’t post singles in YouTube format but I like how you are able to get a visual of each emcee and learn more about where you can hear more music from each artist.  You are bound to hear an emcee you like in this cypher, if not all of them.  Stay tuned for more material as HHD is going to be a prime supporter in 2014.  Bet!

Here are the members if you want to check them out individually: Jus Ra, Loose Logic, J-Scriptz, Speciez, Xavier Medina, Kue the Vandal, Frank Knight, Annex, Cocaine Chris, and Sleep.

Single You Out: J57 – Been A Long Time (ft. ATR) (prod. by Exile)

Good lord, man!  I mean double good God!  Seven Hail Marys and Three Holy Mollies!  J57 is an outstanding producer in his own right but what Exile did on this track, with that sample, is on some ‘holier than thou’ tip.  That’s just outstanding.  I get down for some good production but that’s remarkable.  And not to get lost in the mix is that J57 can hold the mic right.  He’s a very underrated emcee, mostly because he’s known as a great producer.  Things might start changing when it comes to being underrated when people here his new project, Wax Aesthetic, dropping January 28th.

Single You Out: DJ Low Cut – The Spot Is Mine (ft. Mykill Miers and CF)

This particular cut comes off of the Sick Digger Crew’s Overlords project which is available absolutely free.  The project has a nice blend of French production and a variety of emcees.  I originally found this to be an odd pairing.  Mykill Miers from the Left and CF from New Jerz, but the whole track melds well over that DJ Low Cut production.   I love the blend of the guitar and piano on the track.  Beautiful hip hop from coast to coast and then beyond.

Single You Out: KVBeats – You Know The Rules (ft. Rashad and DJ Rob Swift)

KVBeats is back in the lab and lacing us with that smooth hip hop flavor.  He brings Rashad and DJ Rob Swift in on the action and the result is very flavorful.   The track has that chill production, dope lines, and the on time cuts.  What more can us hip hop heads ask for?  Perhaps we could wish for an entire project, and  The Breadwinner is going to be dropping on February 18th with some big names on it.  Check for it!
