Single You Out: Gary Rue – Down (ft. Jon Buell, El Ay, and Tone Twist)

Gary Rue is definitely someone I check for all off the strength of his first two release.  He flies under the radar and definitely deserves more recognition for the skill he displays.  Here we have a dope record featuring El Ay, Jon Buell, and Tone Twist.   Production was procured by Lob Van Beathoven and the scratches by DJ Trickalone.     This is a fresh joint the sets the stage fro Rue’s upcoming, The Burgeoning Nihlist.

Joell Ortiz – Anxiety (Video)

When artist’s touch on the vulnerable side of humanity with their music it does something special for the listener.  It creates an instant bridge between the artist and the fan.  I can see this happening over and over again with this track, Anxiety, from Joell Ortiz.   He relays what it is like to live life in a state of constant apprehension and all the signs and feelings it incorporates. He also reflects on how dismissive people can be of the topic.

This track is one of the strongest of the year in my estimation as Nottz does his usual remarkable when melding samples, drums, and instrumentation.

Powerful.

Planet Asia & Milano Constantine – Milano Medallions (Video)

We have a couple of the illest emcees, each representing one side of the continent. Certified legends in Planet Asia representing the west coast, and Milano Constatine repping the east coast.   And together they bring out the best of hip hop from the perspective of any coastline.  Brought to you by DJ Enyoutee, Asia and Constatine each rep their unique styles to the fullest over the track Milano Medallions.

New EP do out on November 8th, and I have my pre-order in!

Single You Out: Greve – Handz Up (ft. Termanology x Ruste Juxx x Shabaam Sahdeeq x UG)

Here’s a gem I want to make sure that everyone hears.   Producer Greve leads an all-star cast of emcee with a beat that sounds like boom-bap meets the River Dance and the result is hype!   I love the use of the fiddle (?) loop.   That shit is fire when coupled with this beat and the scratching.   Emcees Termanology, Ruste Juxx, Shabaam Sahdeeq, and UG each rip strong sixteens to make a truly compelling track.

I suggest you check out the project, Eternal, as soon as possible.
