Boston’s Best Kept Secret, Rite Hook , links up with super producer, Falside , for the track Bear With Me. Obviously this joint is going to be dope so just download it already. It is a leak from Rite Hook’s forthcoming album, Draw You In. And while you are at it, you can download his album E.ye A.ssume D.amage on Leedz Edutainment Bandcamp. It’s free. Get it HERE!
Intuition has a plethora (like that word don’t you?) of styles. He is such a diverse artist. He can do comedic styles, boom bap, and touch on more serious and intimate topics. I am really feeling this joint which focuses on battery and domestic violence, as he narrates two stories of individuals who try to find ‘sanctuary’ from the torment. This is some meaningful music. The production is also borders on the incredible, with beats provided by Dibia$e.

When hip hop is expressive and relevant it is at it’s best. You really can not get anymore relevant than this track and video footage that reflect the political and social change that started on January 25th in Egypt. It’s a very powerful piece. In addition, all of these artists have created a dope presentation of the events that transpired.
You can also download the track HERE.
I awoke this morning to Leedz putting it in the air via Twitter that eight of the albums/mixtapes put out on his label were being offered free. I am assuming this is a recent development, though I could certainly be wrong. I know I paid good money for them and now you can DL some of them without spending a dime. These releases are chocked full of dope beats and raw lyricism. You are going to find something among the collection that you will love. Heck, I love most of them. My favorites of the bunch are Rite Hook’s E.ye A.ssume D.amage and the Write Off Mixtapes Vol.1 and 2. You will see tons of guest shots on these releases, including Slaine, Amadeus The Stampede, Reef The Lost Cause, J The S, Ill Bill and many more. I realize this is not an ‘artist’ discography so to speak but I wouldn’t sleep on this collection if I were you! Also, make sure you remember to drop some dollars on one of these artist’s shows or retail products if you like what you hear. It’s essential to contribute financially when capable. Meanwhile, enjoy….
You can click the cover of the particular album you wanted to check out and be linked to the Bandcamp site where you can stream the music to see if it’s for you, but for my part it is a no brainer: Pick them all up!

Another talented act has emerged out of the DMV by way of Memphis. Soulfully, Me hit me up a little over a week ago with his debut, Confessions Of A College Kid. My immediate reaction was that the artist and production were both above par, which in and of itself is a victory. At 21 tracks, the main question I had by track six was: “Can this emcee keep it up?’ And the answer is…yes. Yes he can.

This cut is off of Kap Kallous’ forthcoming, I Should’ve Kept My Mouth Shut album. It sounds dope to me. This has a different and very uptempo sound. It’s a fun track. You can leave a review and download at DJ Booth.
On the Bandcamp page, from whence this came, it says that this single dropped today however I haven’t heard much clamor about it. Well, I guess I will start pushing this song out there for all to hear. I have always thought that Rise was among the wittiest emcees in the games. He just has clever lines. This one is no different. It’s vintage Rise, as he showcases his conversational style over The Avid Record Collectors enjoyable production. Also if you did not get a chance to to check out their effort from early 2009, Risen, make sure you do that. It was a Top 10 release that year.
I just posted up a more recent song by Premonition entitled Kingship. When he got wind of that post he passed on this video for, the writer’s block. This song is coming off of his 2010 release, the build. In my mind this song just solidifies his talent as an emcee and solo artist. You can stream the album and download it if you like it.
Artist: The Brainstormers (Cayoz Da Beast x A.L. Laureate x Praverb the Wyse x DJ Grazzhoppa x O*Zee)
Album: The Brainstormers EP

Note:
There’s a new group to speak of in independent hip hop. Each of the lyrical members of the group hail from what essentially is the four corners of the continental United States. The DJ, DJ Grazzhoppa, hails from Belgium. They come to you collectively as The Brainstormers. Some groups like to project how “eclectic” they are, but in this case, each member of The Brainstormers does indeed bring a completely different style to the table.
The most unique of the four emcees, in my opinion, is A.L. Laureate out of Florida. He is billed as the abstract one and that term definitely qualifies. His style is very poetic. It takes a while to digest what Laureate is saying, which actually is quite refreshing in this day in age where we are being spoon fed lyrically. Praverb the Wyse has always struck me as someone who has a great spiritual resonance. He brings a level of sincerity to the mic. Cayoz Da Beast is the most pragmatic emcee of the group. His style is very deliberate and his flow is more aggressive than the others. O*Zee (not featured as an emcee on the project) is an excellent addition to the group. He is lyrically gifted and can drop the ill punchlines and metaphors. His wordplay is very elaborate and clever.

Don’t be slow on the uptake on this one! Nu Revolution Camp is comprised of some of the DMV’s finest emcees. Specifically it consists of Wordsmith, Black Knight, Kontact, and Whitefolkz. This cut is taken off of their newly released mixtape, Super Hero Theme Music Vol. 1. I just got done listening to the project in it’s entirety and I have to say that it is EXCELLENT. I hope to be able to review it here soon. If you like what you hear on this song, please DL it. It’s got some infectious jawns.
