You know what upsets me? People telling me that Cold Heat is an up and coming hip hop group. Damn! These guys have been around for a while and working with some of the most storied artists in the NYC. Quit acting like Jak Daniels and Johnny Walker are a couple of new jacks. There album from 2006, Bar Hoppin’ is one of the most slept on albums in the last five years.

Single You Out: 9th Prince x Midaz The Beast – Thundercats

There were well over one hundred songs leaked in the last few weeks.  I passed on posting a lot of them because while they might have been good, they just didn’t move me. This Tzarizm produced track puts so many other of those ‘leaks’ to shame.  The drums hit so hard and the piano chords make this production beastly.  I have always been a fan of Midaz.  He puts out quality work.  He has an aggressive style and always seems like he is attacking mics.  9th Prince I am familiar with but really haven’t checked for him.  That may soon change.

Enjoy!

Interview – K-Beta (2011)

I recently had the opportunity to ask some questions to an artist from the DMV who I think released one of the best album thus far in  2011.  K-Beta has been paying dues in hip hop and in life.  His album, Inglorious Beta, is a must listen for any hip hop fan.  As an emcee, his skill knows no bounds.  As a man,  he resides in the same struggles and successes that we do.  I encourage you to check out the album and also check out what the man has to say about music, the DMV, and life in general.

Note:

I make no secrets on this blog about the artists I am feeling.  And usually, the pattern repeats, as consistency appeals to me.  This brings us to the latest work by Boston artist, Rite Hook.  I have spoken to his appeal before but to recap previous posts, Rite Hook has great song making ability.    He is able to put intelligent and emotional music together.  He also has become a master at being able to construct dope hooks.  His dark crooning really ties his songs together.

Silent Knight – Stayin’ Busy (Video)

I am going to keep on you about this emcee, Silent Knight.  I have been following this man’s music for a minute and his skills are of the highest caliber.  There’s no doubt about it. When Busy Is My Best Friend drops, you can bet that SK brought his best to the table.  There’s no album that I am more anticipating this year.  Couple SK’s skills with the fact The Audible Doctor is behind the boards, I reckon this song is my single of the year so far.

Single You Out: Praverb the Wyse – Blessed With The Gift Remix (IV the Polymath)

Not only is Praverb a good person to poly about hip-hop with ,  he is also one hell of an emcee in his own right.  IV the Polymath sent this over and I am most definitely feeling his musical twist to the track.  Praverb is a spiritual emcee and you feel the soul and intellect he puts into a track like this just like you felt when listening to him on teh Brainstormer’s project.  Be sure to check this joint out!
