Top 50 Songs (2011)

It’s subjective.  It’s my opinion, although I have excellent taste in music (conceited bastard).  I ranked these songs on the merits of their content, production, the emcee’s lyrical ability and flow, and originality.  All of theses songs have some combination of the aforementioned.  They may rank higher in one area than others.

Did I miss some? Of course I did.  But this is the grand sense of the music that I appreciated in 2011.

1. Stayin’ Busy – Silent Knight (prod. by The Audible Doctor) –  This song had me open for the longest time. The beat, the sample, and Knight’s lyrics really one me over from day one.  SK and The Audible Doctor are the big winners here.  This song has remained my number one song from it’s inception in February.

2. Agnes In Wunderland  Remix – Memphis Reigns – A song done regarding the various degrees of addiction that can be found in life has such great introspection.

3. Breaking Point – Emilio Rojas – No one does personal angst better than Mr. Rojas.  He kills this song.

4. That Fire – The Destruments ft. CF – Blam.  Blam.  This is the illest flow of the year, point blank.  I could listen to this song over and over again.

5. Pitch Black – Moke and Tone – This tale of deception, wrong doing, and karma is easily one of my favorites this year.

Check The Discography: E.M.S.

There are just a few collectives out there that put out consistently dope hip hop.  E.M.S. is one such collection of artists.  This group of artists out of  Massachusetts have put out an incredible amount of material and I wanted to give the readers an opportunity to give some of these releases  a listen.  A big shout out to Rev from E.M.S. for compiling all of these releases.

I have personally heard 90% of these albums/mixtapes and I can attest for their dopeness. Now, remember,  I wasn’t trying to put out every mixtape or guest shot these artists have ever been on.  This is just their own releases.  Please enjoy this late holiday gift…

Ras Kass x Doc Hollywood – The Yellow Snow EP (2011)

Artist:  Ras Kass x Doc Hollywood

Album;  The Yellow Snow EP

Source:  Bandcamp

Tracklisting:

1. Yellow Snow
2. The Grinch (Who Stole Dub Step)
3. Jack Frost II (White Christmas)

Note:

I won’t take too much time to describe a three track Christmas release. I do want to say that this is a MUST LISTEN to project. Louie Rubio from Doc Hollywood produced these tracks and I really like how he used the yule tide flavor on this joint.

The highlight of this little gem is Ras Kass’ verses on Jack Frost II.  I haven’t heard my favorite emcee spit these type bars  in a long time.  He as always had that knack for dropping intelligent rhymes without sounding like an encyclopedia, but here he just goes bar after bar dropping knowledge.  I haven’t heard this type of flow since Nature Of The Threat.

Single You Out: UllNevaNo – Quick Strike (ft. Matth Damon)

I am really trying hard to get this end of the year material in order and hence I am not posting a whole lot.  However,  this is a dope song by a featured artist on HHD, UllNevaNo.  This is from a project where he is rhyming all over Apollo Brown beats entitled, The Color Brown Pt. 2.  As you can see from the artwork, it is dropping at the first of the year.  I think you will like what you hear from this track.

Single You Out: Leedz Edutainment – Stay Charged (ft. Stalley and Apollo The Great) (prod. by Falside)

I have listened to The Write Off Compilations previously and they have all been really good, but I don’t know if either of the previous volumes had a song of this caliber.  I am sure people are familiar with Stalley,  and in truth his verse here is on the money.  Some of you may not familiar with Apollo The Great, but you can tell from his 16 that he is some one to be reckoned with.  These two body another stalwart beat from Falside.  The whole compilation drops on December 19th!

By clicking the link below I am sending you to the Booth to rate and download.  Enjoy!
