Here’s a track from Local-MU12’s collective effort, Everyday People. The track features bars from Shabaam Sahdeeq and Punchline, underscored with production from The Manorail. Together they take on the Instagram era and those looking for instant fame in the game.
Single You Out: Tenacity x J57 x Deejay Element – Get Down (prod. by Exile)
I was just wondering what Tenacity was up to after listening to one of his fantastic albums the other day. Well, now I know! He’s rocking mics with J57 over a funky and fresh beat from Exile with scratches applied by Deejay Element. It’s honestly amazing to me how remarkable Exile is behind the boards. This track feels ‘stripped down’ but there is still so much going on.
Great music!
Single You Out: Explizit One x Left Hook – Dead To Rights
Explizit One and Left Hook drop some social commentary with their track, Dead To Rights. It is incumbent upon hip hop to weave tales of what is going on around us and I think these artists from the Bean do that very well.
It’s a shame when we have to say a prayer in hopes that we get home safely but that’s the harsh reality of things.
Molecules & Showbiz – Bad Guy (ft. Money Ray) (Video)
The Legion’s emcee Molecules is linking up with veteran producer Showbiz for a new project that drops on May 19th entitled, A Bronx Tale. Accompanied by Money Ray, Molecules drops that NY Boom-Bap narrations all over heads with the single Bad Guy.
Get ready! Real hip hop is hitting May with a flurry!
Alpha Faktion – System Shutdown (Video)
Oh lawd have mercy! The hour is upon us and the new Alpha Faktion album, Creative Control, has a digital release date of June 2nd, and I can’t wait! It’s going to be one of the dopest albums this year. I mean just listen to this Marco Polo produced song, System Shutdown. It’s one of the hypes beats I have heard from Polo, and the Faction prove merciless with their flows. They are raw, intense, and delivering a purity to hip hop that is sorely needed.
Single You Out: IDE – Mic Hog
Creative Juices and Alpha Faktion link up when IDE and DJ Enyoutee team up for this banger, entitled Mic Hog. Enyoutee brings in the guitar licks over the snapping drums and IDE show an ever evolving repetoire as an emcee. He is flipping some serious non-stop lyricism on this track and continues to really show how refined his craft as an emcee is evolving.
Be sure to check out Alpha Faktion’s new album, which I think is dropping soon.
Single You Out: Rook & Menace – Sly Stone
Here’s something new that I am really loving. The back and forth wordplay between Rook & Menace is not necessarily unique but it was done exceptionally well. The lyricism is on point as is the production. I am going to have to look these guys up to find out more about them. Because if their material is as good as this…we have another artist to look forward to seeing submissions from.
Single You Out: Intalek x EOM – My Shai Interlude
Man, I could not resist posting this. I love how Intalek and EOM chopped up this track. They take a 90s classic R&B cut, and make the joint slam! EOM’s rendering is nothing short of phenomenal. Intalek’s flow is impressively sophisticated as bobs and weaves his way around the track.
They have this, The LA. VA. EP out that I think is really going to impress folks. I strongly encourage you to give it a listen.
Planet Asia – Made It (ft Rozewood & Hus Kingpin) (Video)
Here’s some smoothness off of Planet Asia’s project, Velour Portraits. You’ve got Rozewood and Hus Kingpin lending their skill sets to the track, so what can go wrong? Nothing. This is definitely something to vibe out to. Production from Sonny Vintage.
Check it.
Single You Out: Vic Orena (Little Vic) – Ring Around The Rosie
Vic Orena a/k/a Little Vic is never short on the linguistics. You always get maximum wordplay on his verses. It’s not so much based on metaphors and similes but an overall and relentless flow. There’s also much double etendre to be had here. DJ Insite laces the head nodder on this cut.
Stay impressed folks!
