For this week’s installment of the Friday Feature, HHD brings you illMEASURED beats in their purest form…INSTRUMENTAL ONLY.   If you are purely a fan of hip hop, check out these beats and vibe out.  If you are an emcee looking for a producer who has a great deal of versatility, with a rock solid foundation in hip hop fundamentals, and a knack for the boom-bap  Reach Out To Him…

illMEASURED was kind enough to write a snippet about each track so you know where his thought process is at.   Enjoy…

Heavy AttackSometimes I set out to make a certain style beat and sometimes a sample or keyboard melody determines that for me.  In this case I heard a Millie Jackson sample and immediately heard a high energy in your face beat reminiscent of something you might hear from Just Blaze.

All U MC’sTo me the Biggie sample says it all in terms of the direction here.  Basically I envision an MC out for vengeance on some grimy taking over the streets type shit.  Something you might hear from Mobb …

Life Twists YouPain, anguish, grief, poverty, desperation, agony, fear, anxiety, hopelessness.  Wherever I can I put a lot of effort into displaying emotion in my compositions.  In life, emotion is such a complicated thing and expressing it properly is just as hard.  If I can create a canvas to help an “artist” paint a vivid picture with their words, I’ve done my job.

Circus of Clowns – I guess people would agree this is my “Industry Diss” beat.  I’m looking for a really hungry MC that is prepared to call people out and hurt people’s feelings on this one.  To say what we all want to about the music industry.  Don’t get me wrong, I respect all artists and appreciate different styles of music, I’m not an industry hater or a snobby producer, but I guess Common said it best, “if I don’t like it I don’t like it, that don’t mean that I’m hatin”.  People often forget this is entertainment.

Loving Life – The name says it all.  This is that feel good, no worries, beautiful day beat.  I’m not even sure the song would need much of a vocal hook, just an MC to narrate the listener on an adventure.

Force B With U – A ways back I heard the original song at the end of a Guitar Hero game and it amazed me.  The guitar riff was just so damn ferocious I had to bring it into the hip hop realm.  I really wanted to keep the power metal intensity and add the hip hop grit to it.  The result is a mean, monstrous, kick down your door type beat.  Definitely a dope performance track for any live show too.
