Note:
I listened to this EP before bed last night and literally I couldn’t go to sleep for hours because these five tracks had me so amped. These cuts from Armageddon are absolutely flawless. It’s the perfect EP. If you love that intelligent hip hop over those boom bap beats, you are going to love the return of Armageddon. I haven’t heard from this artist in what would seem like a decade. Usually when an artist resurfaces it is with mixed results, but Armageddon has bucked that trend with an awe inspiring effort.
From the jump, Imma Get Mine, blisters your ears with that rawness and lyrically, it as if Armageddon just got better as time has passed. His flow is ridiculous. The trumpets on this track announce the arrival of this emcee as he reintroduces himself to the world. This is his triumphant return. The man is on a mission to be the best at his craft. Armageddon delivers fiery verses over an exceptionally hot production. This could easily be a song used for a movie score. He denounces his detractors and sets his mind forward on his career ahead.
On Get Yours, the production lifts the piano riff from Roxette’s, Listen To Your Heart. It has Armageddon slowing down his flow a bit but his aggressive delivery remains the same. He sounds encouraged himself and transfers that positive mentality to others on this track. Whatever your hustle may be, Armageddon encourages you to strive hard to meet your goals.
Dance With The Devil is the track on this EP. This song is synonymous with the phrase “goes hard”. The drum pattern accompanied with the synth makes it ever-so vicious. This song made me want to hurt something. It’s Fight Club music! I guarantee that you will not hear a better flow this year then the one year hear on this track. Check this short sample:
…full clip inserter/body frame converter/ choreograph your murder / call it art with a burner….
Rap Therapy is a song that demonstrates the healing power of making music. This song makes it evident that Armageddon has been in some pretty dark places in the last few years and this song serves as a way for him to vent everything from shortcomings and regret to anger. This is his cathartic moment set to music. His first verse on this track are some of the most honest bars I have ever heard:
These are confessions of a dead bead dad afraid to grow up / Lost in his fantasies / Far from what a man should be / A boy with unrealistic plans that never show up
I can’t hide that I am excited about the return of Armageddon. I can’t hide it because of the fact that his return is so emphatically good. The bars he spits in these five cuts outshine 90% of what’s being talked about in the game right now. Everything he says on these tracks is real and honest. Everyone should own this EP and be privy to something special. Stay tuned for more Armageddon as I can see him being regularly featured here!
