Disclaimer: It is hard and challenging to pick 50 tracks from the thousands upon thousands that dropped this year. It is merely an attempt to list my favorite cuts of 2012. Click the links to listen to the song! I think it’s a great list. There were a lot of great songs crafted this year and I know I left off some good ones. I listened to 5,000+ tracks from 2012 alone this year, so as an artist, if you made this list you know you are on the forefront of my iTunes!
Album: Pay Day EP
This is a compilation of tracks from Swerve & SYG’s Pay Day series. I am glad that they compiled this together so folks can get it all in one swoop. I am not equipped to speak on particular songs but wanted to get this up on the site so you guys could get to it.
Hopefully you have all seen my previous posts on Swerve & SYG. If you have then you already know how highly I think of their music. So from here I am going to let their Press Release spell out the nuts and bolts:
The ‘Pay Day EP’ is the 3rd project released by Swerve & SYG, the previous one being only a couple months prior with Cold Winters & Warm Whiskey 2. The ‘Pay Day EP’ was created to wrap up a Swerve & SYG series titled ‘Pay Day’ which happen to drop on the 1st & the 15th each month. The two have been releasing solo songs alternate of each other twice a month since January of this year. They have added 3 entirely new Swerve & SYG songs as well as remixed previously released Swerve songs like ‘No Lifeguard On Duty‘ & ‘Somethings Gotta Give‘ to include SYG. Find out more info on Swerve & SYG by going to www.swerve916.com.
Note: The Pay Day EP is a “name your price” release. You can become a supporter by entering in a price of your choice or, If your price is free, simply enter 0.00 for the free download.
Another installment of the Pay Day series delivered by SYG while we await Cold Winters and Warm Whiskey 2 dropping on February 21st. Although half of the track is an excerpt of a Rodney Dangerfield stand up bit, the initial musical offering remains dope.
This is the third installment of Swerve and SYG’s Payday Series. Steadily dropping dope material. Just really smooth verbs and nouns from Swerve dropped over some D-Rock production.
Cold Winters And Warm Whiskey drops on February 21st
Swerve is constantly cranking out new songs and he wants folks to get in on the action and pass the word on with his new “Pay Day” series. Every 1st and 15th (get the reference now?) Swerve and/or SYG will be dropping a gem on us as a prelude to their forthcoming album.
Here Swerve continues to rock over these smooth DJ Mentos beats. The duo have a very nostalgic vibe to them. It’s like they are making music right out of this black and white picture above.
Swerve is that man right now in my opinion. The songs that Swerve and SYG are offering up right now are incredible. If you are a fan of hip hop you are going to love this music. These are relate able rhymes combined with an almost bluesy feel in the production. But here’s the caveat, they need our help in order to finish their vision for what the forthcoming album Cold Winter & War Whiskeys 2 should be. They want to put out a premium product and need some investment from their listeners (family) so they can see this project through. So they are charging $1.29 for the song. Of course this is an investment, so please feel free to contribute more. For $20.00 they will send you a signed physical copy of the album when it is released. What I would like to see from my readership is at least a $5.00 donation to the cause to help promote good music. Because without our assistance in some capacity…this good music is going away…
