Jay Royale does no wrong. Ever. His brand of hip hop harkens back to that Mobb Deep sound perhaps even with a more lyrical flair. His last three projects are damn near impeccable. The Jay & Dehaven is off of his latest project, Jacked For The City. And you can hear on this track that chemistry with long time collaborator Ray Sosa. This joint is gritty and hits hard in all facets. Sleep not.
Jay Royale x Styles P – End Game (Video)
Jay Royale is back with another Ray Sosa fueled heater. These two have mastered that grimy street sound. The drums from Sosa knock the headphones off you ears and Royale has a superior pen game, and to add to all that we got guest bars from none other than Styles P. This joint is sharp!
Jay Royale – The Wise & Lakid (ft. Havoc) (Video)
Jay Royale seemingly only makes heat rocks. He had that one joint with Kool G Rap earlier this year that was total flames, and then this joint, The Wise & Lakid, he’s got Havoc dropping some heavy bars. And this production from Ray Sosa very much has a 1990s Mobb Deep flavor. And the pen game proves razor sharp on both ends of these sixteens.
Jay Royale – Carlito And Kleinfeld (ft. Kool G Rap) (Video)
One of the toughest and dopest joints to come out this year, and sure to be penned into some top end-of-the-year lists is Jay Royale’s new single, Carlito and Kleinfeld featuring Kool G Rap. Producer Ray Sosa has some sinister intents with his production here featuring those snapping drums, piano loops, and crescendo synth. Plus, those sample chops from DJ Grazzhoppa are so very precise and well timed.
Lyrically…c’mon KGR is a legend for a reason. His bars are FOREVER timeless and that’s no exaggeration. He sounds just as good now as he ever has, and Jay Royale shows precise execution in his sixteen, continuing to build upon his already buzzing name and talent.
Phenomenal.
