Single You Out: Swollen Members – Triple Aces

Whoa! New Swollen Members?!?! Say it’s so…and apparently it is.Prevail, Madchild, and Rob The Viking are apparently making new music again, and that’s a breath of fresh air. I loved these guys when they were at their zenith. Balance is in my mind a classic album. I know others will disagree but that was a game changer when it dropped in 1999.

Let us hope that there is new music in store for the listener in the future.

Single You Out: Swollen Members – Supreme Beings (ft. DJ D-Rec)

A resurgent Swollen Members crew is about to set it off with another album, Brand New Day,  in about a month. and though not a part of the project, this is just a little teaser of what to expect.  I like the fact that DJ D-Rec got to mix it up on the track, giving this cut that little something extra to go from good to great.  Prevail and Madchild are back mixing their Battle Axe wordplay and haven’t lost one step . So ‘keep the doors locked, and the dead bolts fastened’.

Note:

Swollen Members has teased me for years with single after single for previous albums alluding to that elusive and dark sound that harkens back to their debut effort, Balance. What kept on happening is the singles would all ring true to that “dark” formula, but those previous albums would fall short of the overall sound that I craved. Sometimes it’s not fair to judge an emcee or a group on that original sound as things are supposed to evolve.  But I am only human, and in the case of Beautiful Death Machine,  Madchild, Prevail, and Rob The Viking have come full circle.
