Phene is the best artist out of Atlanta. There I said it. Cope. On Square One, Phene plays upon the ‘reach-one-teach-one’ theme. He portrays the role of both the older and the younger artist, giving and taking advice. It’s a well executed concept over some nice production from Marc Johnson. Even the chorus sounds nice. Revelation 717 will have it’s day.
Phene – Obliged (ft. Maffew Ragazino) (Video)
Phene’s God On A Greyhound has been out for a long minute now so seeing this video was a surprise to me. A pleasant surprise. God On A Greyhound is a beast of an album that dropped a couple of years ago so the visual treatment for this track is past due to say the least. But I’ve seen Phene’s name pop over the course of the last few months so maybe word is getting around about the man’s talent. Quan is responsible for the production and Ragazino needs no introduction.
Phene & Mic Barz – Put That On Everything (Video)
I remember Phene from his previous album, God On A Greyhound. That was a solid project. I am not sure where Put That On Everything is headed in terms of a project but it is still dope. The premise is when our backs are placed up against a wall and it’s sink or swim, more often than not we find a way to swim.
