The EMS ensemble gather together to spit over an adaptation of The Walking Dead’s television theme song. And if any unit could pull off something like this, I trust non other than EMS. They have diverse enough lyrical styles to keep the track bouncing and entertaining.
This track serves as Revalation’s second single for his forthcoming EP, Emergency Broadcast.
M-Dot, Maylay Sparks, and Skyzoo link up (albeit all the way back in 2012) to pay homage to the hip hop elements and the first hip hop movie ever made over a vintage sound from French producer Nikkel K. It’s very smooth and cohesive as the emcee’s flows really work well with each other.
The art of story telling is on full display with this bonus track from DJ Jean Maron’s latest album, True School. And who does he solicit to write the story to the music, none other than M-Dot. And he weaves the hard luck tale to perfection.
M-Dot bust flows brazenly over break beats. Befuddling the best of listeners with braggadocio and bravado. Oooohh. I had to try. At any rate, M-Dot, belittles (there I go again) the second letter of the alphabet and yet another song off of Layer Cake.
Good gravy! M-Dot was telling me that he was putting in work with this producer named Chillow and now I see some of that work come to light. This funky bass line had me from the jump and M-Dot shows that he can clean up real good and keep it smooth with his natural slick talk (haha). This really is a track that you can throw on before you hit the town..make you feel like a million bucks. No let downs.
M-Dot releases the 4th single to his dope, yet free mixtape, JAKE LaDOTTA. The track, Frank Lee, is a narrative about a guy who decided to wrong route it and the repercussions of his decisions. It’s simply another win for the EMS frontman. The production is constructed by Pause.
This song just made my week. No matter what happens the rest of the week, this song from M-Dot and company is a major win! The bass line on this jawn made my neck sore. And the flows…my god the flows, were impeccable. M-Dot can stay silent for months and then drop a gem like this and instantly remind us of his greatness. And I meant to use that word…great. He has a really sophisticated way with words when rocking the mic. The jam definitely has an old school appeal but easily something I could see getting some universal love.
Jake LaDOTta drops for free tomorrow and may knock some of these end of the year lists on their heads. Check back at DJ Booth for the good word…
A lot of dope smooth joints have released in the last week or so. This one was forwarded by the EMS crew and after a long delay, I wanted to share it with you. There’s a lot of introspective bars in this joint while the production instructs you to lean back and maybe reminisce about someone you once lost or a time gone past. We all do that from time to time so make sure you take this track as an opportunity.

This is the best and toughest song off of the Snowgoon’s latest album, Black Snow 2. The lineup of M-Dot, Jaysaun, and Journalist 103 is the perfect blend of rugged n’ raw and elite lyricism. All three of these emcees need some solo projects though. Desperate need.
