The remix for YC The Cynic’s, More And More, includes more than just a couple of dope alternate invites. It looks like he solicited some of the Carolina’s best. The original song from Fall FWD is dope but I may yet prefer this “Carolina” version. On a side note, every time I hear a King Mez guest shot, I crave to hear a solo album. Maybe soon?
Single You Out: J57 – The Main Event (ft. Actions Bronson, Meyhem Lauren, Maffew Ragazino, and Rasheed Chappell)
This list of emcees is the “in-list” right now. I mean these guys are all very sought after guest shots right now. This is that ‘classic’ type of posse cut right here. The beat is titillating but not overbearing with the keys. This is the first single off of J57’s forthcoming EP, 2057. You know we will be watching out for that!

YC The Cynic – More and More (ft. Soul Khan, Von Pea, and Sene) (Video)
This truly awesome cut is coming off of YC The Cynic’s March 2011 release, Fall FWD. I should have reviewed this back then because it is really good but will have to be forgiven for my lapse. Be sure to check it out!
Single You Out: Brown Bag All Stars
4When Soul Khan released his debut album, Soul Like Khan, he could have rested on his laurels and taken a breather, but to the contrary the man has just stepped up the pace a bit. He released the single Soulstice II and he had a remix released for Shot Glass Magnified ft. Sene. The new beat was brought on by The Audible Doctor. I also just saw on bandcamp that someone is doing a mash up album of Soul Like Khan. I haven’t heard it yet but the the prequel is HERE.

Koncept also has been keeping himself busy since releasing his EP, Playing Life. He released a physical CD of that same project and added a few extra tracks for the effort. He also has dropped a few notable gems like Day Dreaming , the remix to Playing Life (prod. by Marink), and most recently his DJ Booth feature, Things You Do. His street album, More Than Meets The Eye drops on February 22nd, so be on the lookout for that!

The Audible Doctor basically has produced 1/2 of the cuts previously mentioned. He has also blessed heads like Magestik Legend, Boog Brown, and most recently he did a beat for one of my favorite emcees, Silent Knight, for the cut Staying Busy which will be featured on here very soon.

J57 is the man who is always passing on what the BBAS are doing and it is much appreciated. In addition to keeping the world informed he has also been on his grind as of recent. Late in 2010 he and Sene released the EP, Eye Don’t Dream…But I Do. He also released the Digital Society instrumental album, which had some GREAT bonus tracks including a remix called Still Phenomenal. He also has done a video for the title track featuring Jefferson Price which you can see below. Most recently he did this extremely dope beat for Top $ Raz ft. YC The Cynic called The Plague.

Note:
Blessed with all of the intangibles of being a great emcee, Soul Khan in turn blesses us with his first album, Soul Like Khan. Soul Khan has the voice, he has the lyrics, and he is a battle vet in the Grind Time ranks. But does all of that translate into the makings of a great album? The answer is a resounding yes. Koncept – Playing Life EP
Artist: Koncept
Album: Playing Life
Guests: Sene, Silent Knight
Production: The Audible Doctor, J57, Maticulous, DJ Brace, DJ Dyllemma
Best Tracks: Keeping On, First Time, Old Man Winters
Recommendation: Highly Recommend
Note: The BBAS has never given you reason to doubt the skill that lies within. Koncept’s release is no different. Playing Life is short and excellent. I always was impressed by Soul Khan from BBAS but this EP gave me an opportunity to really see what his compadre Koncept could do on the microphone. He does not disappoint. He is not a punchline rapper but rather relies on a great flow and emotion to rock a track. When you listen to him you really feel the music.
The production is also incredibly solid. Ever since I heard the Undeniable Remix by The Audible Doctor I was an instant fan. He laces three tracks for the EP and all of them are on point. He has great command of his production. It just seems so effortless. But the banger on the album has to be Keeping On which was laced by maticulous. The song just knocks.
In conclusion, I feel that this EP deserves a spot on your Ipod. It’s just too nice not too. While to call it an “instant classic” is a reach, it still differentiates itself from the rest of the pack to make it one of the better releases in 2010.
