Hasan Salaam – Like Silence (ft. Kendal Good) (Video)

“In order to see the light, I first had to go astray…”

Hasan Salaam releases the song, Like Silence,  from his latest album, Life In Black & White, and gives it the video treatment.  The track features Kendal Good and gives hip hop the unplugged feel. But more than this, Like Silence, is a song about redemption and finding paths forward.  Certainly some good music that should find an inspiring thought in that mind of yours.

Single You Out: Apex Zero – A Meeting Of The Continents (ft Hasan Salaam & Iron Braydz) (prod By DJ Fortune)

I love the way DJ Fortune flipped that Dexter theme song.  That’s some good work that instantly grabs the listener’s attention.  Another thing that grabs me instantly is Hasan Salaam’s verse.   His voice just holds you at attention so you listen carefully to each word.   I have always been a fan of his work.   This is all together a nice track that can be found off of Apex Zero’s next album.  Reality Provoking Liberation, which debuts on October 28th.

Hasan Salaam – .1911 (Video)

Hasan Salaam is a dope artist as we have already showcased here on this site but more than that he is touching lives by engaging with youth in impoverished areas of the world.  The proceeds of his forthcoming project, Music Is My Weapon will go to set up schools and develop clean water in Guinea-Bissau.   I am going to cop it for sure.

On an artistic note, this is a very entertaining video that I am sure you will enjoy.  If you want to make an early donation towards the initiative you can visit http://www.indiegogo.com/ittakesavillage.

Music still has power!

Single You Out: Hasan Salaam – 1911

I am pretty sure I own all of Hasan Salaam’s discography.  I have been following his career for a while now and he remains an artist who not only is lyrically gifted but can also convey meaning and power in his rhymes.  His new album, Music Is My Weapon, is slated to drop on 12/06/2011.  All the proceeds from this album’s sales will be donated to the It Takes A Village Foundation.  You can’t get anymore high-minded than that.  Props!

Note:

I have always been a fan of Hasan Salaam.  His voice and message were always just raw and insightful.  I have the majority of his mixtapes so when I saw he had a new project with Rugged N Raw, I bought it on the strength of his reputation alone.   I didn’t even need to listen to it.  I knew it was going to be a dope project but what I didn’t really count on is how diverse it is.  I had always considered Hasan Salaam to be strictly a political activist on microphone but this project goes in a lot of different directions.
