I was just wondering what Tenacity was up to after listening to one of his fantastic albums the other day. Well, now I know! He’s rocking mics with J57 over a funky and fresh beat from Exile with scratches applied by Deejay Element. It’s honestly amazing to me how remarkable Exile is behind the boards. This track feels ‘stripped down’ but there is still so much going on.

This is one of my favorite tracks of 2014 and probably from the BBAS camp ever. The production from Exile when coupled with ATR’s vocals are the impeccable back drop for J57’s rise to the top.

Good lord, man! I mean double good God! Seven Hail Marys and Three Holy Mollies! J57 is an outstanding producer in his own right but what Exile did on this track, with that sample, is on some ‘holier than thou’ tip. That’s just outstanding. I get down for some good production but that’s remarkable. And not to get lost in the mix is that J57 can hold the mic right. He’s a very underrated emcee, mostly because he’s known as a great producer. Things might start changing when it comes to being underrated when people here his new project, Wax Aesthetic, dropping January 28th.
A jazzy vibe with certain old school flair from producer Exile for this Zoolay cut. Definitely some good hip hop to keep you entertained. This cut is off of Zoolay’s new album, West Kept Secret and I guess I missed the boat on this album. Either I was told and didn’t remember or simply wasn’t told…but there’s no need to lay blame.
