Single You Out: Abyss – Dynamic Duo (ft. Cyrus Da Zine) (prod. by DC The Midi Alien)

Dynamic Duo brings us yet another superlative production from not-heard-from-enough underground virtuoso DC The Midi Alien. The production is built on a foundation of heavily textured, hard-hitting boom-bap drums layered over the rhythm with soulfully haunting undertones that give the track a very distinct feel.

And true to the the song’s title, the strength of Dynamic Duo lies in the chemistry in the verses between Abyss and Massachusetts artist Cyrus Da Zine over this really dope soundscape.

And you know I love a good DJ element to put a track over the top, and to round out the classic feel, Boston’s own DJ Slipwax handles the closing turn on the turntables. His precise, authentic cuts at the tail end of the record serve as the perfect punctuation mark! Check it!

Single You Out: Scumlordz (Speak the Rebel & Sha-Elemental) – Pay Me (prod. by DC the Midi Alien)

Here’s another gem I found out in the wild that I listened to on the strength of the production credit of DC The MIDI Alien. This joint is tough. Speak the Rebel and Sha-Elemental flip all over this sick organ-driven beat with Meaghan Richardson completing the song by providing the chorus.

They have an EP in the works so be on the lookout for that.

Single You Out: Bugout – Enforcer

Oh shit! This is a track that is not to be missed! This beat by DC The Midi Alien is simply insane. I love all the different sounds he gathers around these snapping drums, most noticably that guitar riff! And Bugout (Granite State) lyrically destroys the track around scratches from DJ Myth. I mean these bars are super slick!

This is a Top 25 track this year…no doubt in my mind. It has everything a hip hop fan could want. And the best part is, it’s just the tip of the iceberg coming off the trio’s collaborative project, 69 Berkshire which is due out in the fall.
