Alpha Faktion – System Shutdown (Video)

Oh lawd have mercy!   The hour is upon us and the new Alpha Faktion album, Creative Control, has a digital release date of June 2nd, and I can’t wait!   It’s going to be one of the dopest albums this year.   I mean just listen to this Marco Polo produced song, System Shutdown. It’s one of the hypes beats I have heard from Polo, and the Faction prove merciless with their flows.   They are raw, intense, and delivering a purity to hip hop that is sorely needed.

Single You Out: IDE – Mic Hog

Creative Juices and Alpha Faktion link up when IDE and DJ Enyoutee team up for this banger, entitled Mic Hog. Enyoutee brings in the guitar licks over the snapping drums and IDE show an ever evolving repetoire as an emcee. He is flipping some serious non-stop lyricism on this track and continues to really show how refined his craft as an emcee is evolving.

Be sure to check out Alpha Faktion’s new album, which I think is dropping soon.

Top 50 Songs (2013)

Disclaimer:  It is hard and challenging to pick 50 tracks from the thousands upon thousands that dropped this year.  It is merely an attempt to list my favorite cuts of 2012.  Click the links to listen to the song!  I think it’s a great list.  There were a lot of great songs crafted this year and I know I left off some good ones.  I listened to 5,000+ tracks from 2012 alone this year, so as an artist, if you made this list you know you are on the forefront of my iTunes!

It’s certified boom bap in every sense of the word.  Alterbeats bodies this production and Alpha Faktion continues to show and prove with a high level of skill, personality, and chemistry.  Artists like Alterbeats and Alpha Faktion seemingly click perfect to bring you the very essence of hip hop.    This my friends is what his hop should sound like!  Make sure you check out the Alpha Faktion’s EP from earlier this year, Truth, Lies, & Audiotape.   That’s certified as well.

Alpha Faktion – Truth, Lies, & Audiotape (2013)

Artist: Alpha Faktiom

Album: Truth, Lies, & Audiotape

Tracklisting:

Note:

I really had to mention this EP to you guys as I find myself bumping this release as much as anything else in 2013.    I have featured some of Alpha Faktion’s material here before but that in itself does not do this project justice.    In many ways, Truth, Lies, & Audiotape is very reminiscent of NonPhixion’s first album, The Future Is Now.  Members, Azwun, Kraze, and DJ Enyoutee really have concocted a phenomenal release for hip hop fans of all walks and, at the same time, give the same people food for thought.

On the first two tracks,  Truth, Lies, & Audiotape and Man Against Machine, you have Alpha Faktion rebuking the systematic indoctrination by the government and the media against the masses.  It is also on these initial songs that you can hear a chemistry that has been building over a significant amount of time.   On, Bodybagz, the team seemingly have no problem just dropping a track that bangs, just for the sake of making it bang.   And yes, that joint definitely will ring some bells.  But right after that they come back and show the ability to show sincere introspection on the cut, Reflection Of Self.   They can tackled many a topic but on each cut they bring a straight boom bap sound and sharp lyricism.  They are not taking any shortcuts or easy way outs.  Alpha Faktion brings the same mentality to whatever track that they are on.

This album should make hip hop purists release a shout of joy and I encourage you to go to their bandcamp and purchase this release to show your support for their art.

Gimme some more of that good old fashioned boom bap, fellas!  This reminds me of some older Nonphixion material and that’s a good thing.  It has those raw rhymes and beat with those political overtones.  I am definitely feeling the music coming from Alpha Faktion.   Their EP dropping under the same name as this song is dropping on May 21st and you are going to want to catch that.
