Domo Genesis and Evidence are back at it with their animated video single, Shadowboxing. Evidence laced the soul while Genesis paints the picture with poignant lyricism. It’s short but packed full of talent.
John Jigg$ x Samplicity – SOIL (Video)
John Jigg$ and Samplicity release the video single SOIL from their album, Grand Royale which dropped late last year. Jigg$ is the consummate emcee and there is no one more gifted than to narrate his upbringing and surroundings than he. He does it so very aptly over this sensationally smooth production from Samplicity. There is such an effortlessness about Jigg$ flow that plays most excellent with this beat.
Single You Out: Jise x Alucard x IDE – Proximity
A new single from the Creative Juices came comprised of Jise, Alucard, and IDE. And these guys always bring collective flavor to the game. Creative Juices has been around for a long time and has certainly evolved over the years, but the consistency has always been high quality music. And that’s what you get with their single, Proximity. Their flows, while all unique, weave equally ominously over this hauntingly boom bap production from IDE.
New album, Yantra, coming at some point this year.
Snowgoons – Decimating (ft. Terrence Wood (Side Effect) (Video)
Terrence Wood and the Snowgoons have a lot of years and musical history behind them, and you can see they haven’t stopped. Track back track they never lose a step no matter how much time goes by. And this song is the next stop in the musical journey. The Snowgoons lace a melodic banger for Wood’s bars, and he really does decimate the competition line by line. Great wordplay and music that is accompanied by a spot-on video that visualizes that pen game.
Planetary – Get Slumped (Video)
Planetary is reminding everyone of what he is capable of on the microphone. The Outerspace emcee is in a musical resurgence with the pending release of his album, Project Pluto. Get Slumped is the third single from the project, and the man has bars upon bars. And the way his verses lead into this chorus makes for an excellent song. I love how the chorus navigates hip hop classic anthems. Very clever. ELEMXNT is on the production and laces a banger that will undoubtedly get stuck in your conscious.
Supreme Cerebral – Shotgun Barrel (prod. by: Vinyl Villain) (Video)
It’s violent chaos on Supreme Cerebral and Vinyl Villain’s first video single, Shotgun Barrell, off of their new project, The Emperor’s Deity. The production gives you this unnerving and edgy feeling that something wicked is on it’s way, and that manifests in the bars from Supreme Cerebral. Tough track all the way around!
Single You Out: Savage Souls – Pompeii
Savage Souls is a group that doesn’t release a new project every few months (and maybe that’s the right method, who am I to say?) But when they do drop, they bring some serious heat, and that’s no pun intended as I share their track, Pompeii. The track has a great intensity to it in both the production and lyricism. This track drives hard and I would definitely suggest you pick up the new project, After The Blood Spills.
Maze Overlay – Reggie Miller (ft. Asun Eastwood x Bub Styles) (Video)
Maze Overlay is busy prepping a new project for the masses and once again he strikes gold with this Sadhugold produced single, Reggie Miller. Every song is a win for this artist and that’s not over-talking it. This production is lethal, and while Asun Eastwood and Bub Styles both add some fire, we also know some serious heat is coming from Arizona. Maze Overlay is top tier. In terms of making dope music and songs, few if any are surpassing this man. Razor sharp wordplay. Look out for the album.
Single You Out: Enels – The Valley II (ft. Pablo)
I wanted to showcase a cut from Enels most recent album, Kill All Evil. The project is really good and there is an assortment of dope cus on here to choose from. The production on the majority of the joints is supherb, and the wordplay is nice. I am going with showcasing the cut, The Valley II, featuring Pablo. The piano sample with this beat is just too ominous to ignore and the pen game from our emcees is just nasty. But I advise you to check the whole project. You can thank me later.
Chuck N Lock – Bat Signal (Video)
Chuck N Lock are back for another run as there new album, See XL, gets ready to see the light of day on March 3rd. So put that on your calendar. These emcees are known turning that phrase, having you rewind it back, and catching something new in their wordplay.
