WateRR and Machacha give you the melodic potency from their new single, Boxing With Fate, off of their recently released album, ALMIGHTY. The piano centerpiece is beautiful as WateRR drops some introspection on his life and life in general. He’s done music on his terms and talent. Make sure you check the album!
Trillmatic x ZaZa The God x ABAT But Lag – Buddha Palm (Video)
I am a big fan of ZaZa God. His voice has got that strength and command in it. And his beat by ABAT The Lag is honestly a top choice beat of 2023. This bass line and these drums just knocks you back. And these lyrics, damn…c’mon. So many quotables mingled in these bars.
Most of my dogs is beyond loyal / I am big Anubis, my Ra royal!
New album from Trillmatic, ZaZa God, and ABAT But Lag, 777, is coming!
Eddie Kaine X BP Infinite – Back Against The Wall (Video)
Yeah, I am telling you…Eddie Kaine and BP is a stroooooooong tandem. And I love this track, Back Against The Wall, off of their new album, House Of Kaine. The sound is dark and Kaine releases his angst on the world
Been feeling dangerous lately / Back against the wall / Ain’t nobody going to escape me / It’s fucked up for y’all / N$%#as should have run for safety / Gave you guys a minute, y’all was out here looking shaky…
This is a power house. I copped the album and will listen to it today, but I guarantee this is a must cop for 2023…can’t you hear it?
John Jigg$ – KARMA (ft. Marquee) (Video)
John Jigg$ just released a new project, Jigganometry 2, and this the second (I believe) single from the project, produced by none other than Kyo Itachi. Karma is all about when the relationships go to the dark side. Trust broken. Loyalty questioned. Dreams shattered.
Symph – Choir In The Church (ft. GREA8GAWD) (prod. By Midnite) (Video)
Off of Symph’s forthcoming EP, Hand Of God. Our emcee and guest GREA8GAWD go in over some gospel boom bap production from Midnite. GREA8GAWD brings a lot of passion to his sixteen being conflicted over his own success and his partner’s confinement. Symph on the other hand has a more laid back approach to his mic duties but equally as poignant.
Can’t even blame it on the money, niggas been evil / making to heaven is like a camel through a pin needle / In other words the chances are slim / Y’all should bet it all on us, don’t take no chances with them
Rome Streetz – Hell Backwards (Video)
New video and single from Rome Streetz album, Noise Kandy 5. Wavy Da Ghawd on the boards providing the melodic while Streetz unleashes that Hell Backwards. Make sure you check the project in its entirety.
Single You Out: John Jigg$ – Cafe (prod. By Kyo Itachi)
John Jigg$ with some Kyo Itachi behind the boards is another winning combination. Jigg$ gives it to you real and brings back that true hip hop sound over a head nodder.
“N%$#as ain’t fucking with Jigg$ not even half way / Play with me get shot in the calf right in the cafe…”
Single You Out: Spit Gemz – The Long Fall Of Icarus
Spit Gemz combines skills, being well-read, and intelligence when making really dope music. You can hear that formula in nearly every cut. And that remains true here over a True Cipher piano driven production with the song, The Long Fall Of Icarus. Always love seeing new music from Gemz.
Eddie Kaine x BP Infinite – No Permission (ft. RIM) (Video)
Eddie Kaine and producer BP have some fire for you, when their new album, House Of Kaine, which drops on October 27th. This is a great union. In my mind, these are two of the most skilled in their profession, and vastly unheralded for their talents. And to have them combine on this project seems like fate.
No Permission has the tandem taking what they are due with a touch of soul, and not asking for any of it. And not to be left out of this write up is Kaine’s long time affiliate, RIM, who is known for his own turn of phrase.
Don’t sleep!
Torae & Marco Polo – Reloaded (Intro) (Video)
A strooooong intro for Torae and Marco Polo’s new album, Midnight Run, which is a fantastic listen! This is that return of the boom bap, or rather, just boom bap hip hop done better than anyone else. These artists do a great job setting the table for the album with an intense salvo of bars and drums.
