Note:

It is typically not my practice to promote Beat Tapes.  I have always felt the need to have lyrical content added to the music.  I want to listen too wordplay in addition to to having dope production, but Terminill passed the Stone Face project along to me and I told him I would check it out. I procrastinated and hemmed and hawed, but  he is the beatsmith behind the highly acclaimed Service Without A Smile by Serge Severe and I wanted to afford him every opportunity on the strength of that project.  I was glad I did.

The project actually consists of production from four producers in the Great Northwest.  Reign State, PMO, and Chi Duly all lend their talents, along with the aforementioned Terminill.  Terminill however is responsible for the arrangement of the tracks which is a highly underrated part of the process. By the time I reached track number three, Fear. I was hooked.  All the producers really brought something impressive to Stone Face.  My favorite beat was from the man Terminill himself with his lone production, Struggle. The vocal sample on that track was a gem.  It put my head in the clouds for three plus minutes.

I never thought I could listen to Beat Tape straight through nonetheless want to re-listen to a project but Terminill’s efforts may have converted me.  I have gained a true appreciation for something that I had been fighting for a long time.

If I was an emcee I would be working my connects to get in with him and his camp because the sound is extraordinary. Check it out..

Single You Out: Cashus Flow – The Right Time (ft. John Robinson)

Cashus Flow dropped a new single.  This one features John Robinson.  I am not going to tell you what group he’s from.  If you don’t know that by now, I just don’t know what to tell you.

But back to this track.  It’s definitely more mellow than the last single he shot over.  But he still delivers on quality and content on his rhymes.  Lamplighter’s Delight drops this coming Tuesday on his bandcamp page, so save a few extra duckets this week and contribute to the cause.

The Plexiglass Fountain – The It (Video)

This is the first single off of The Plexiglass Fountain’s forthcoming album, Concrete Mythology (The Year Of The Dragon).  Musically this track is exceptional.  If you listen carefully you can hear so many different components of Tokyo Cigar’s production.  It’s really dope to hear someone craft a hip hop beat like this.  Lyrically, it’s coming from the heart.  They’re not dropping crazy punchlines…they’re dropping sincerity.

Single You Out: Heaven & Hell (ft. Styles P)

First off, I love the artwork for this joint!  Secondly,  DJ Nastee came super correct with this beat.  The sample and horns are amazing.  This something I could play again and again (and probably will).  Craig G and Styles P make quick work of the beat with fiery lyrics and delivery. Check in particular Craig G’s last verse.  Recognize that this Ramblings Of An Angry Old Man album will be something special.

Single You Out: UllNevaNo – Week 3 #ijustwannarhyme

I know what you are thinking:  Week 3?  What happened to weeks one and two?  My email ate them, that’s what happened, but UllNevaNo kindly reshot this over to me and I thoroughly enjoyed it. He’s really able to showcase his skills over this instrumental and I think you will agree that it gets top billing. Maybe if I can find the first two weeks I will add them to the post…

Single You Out: Genghis Khan – Violence (ft. Thirstin Howl III, Block McCloud, Gutta,Chris Carbene & DJ Waxwork)

I am cheating with this one.   This song was actually released months ago but was just passed on to me so I am treating it as new.  Genghis Khan has a new album dropping in a few weeks entitled , The Broken Love.  This song is exhibit one as to why I think you should be checking for this album.  The bass line, drums, and keys provide the knocking production for all these dope emcees.  Don’t sleep…
